SnowRunner: Mission types SnowRunner guide, tips

Last update: Saturday, May 22, 2021

This page of the Snowrunner guide describes the types of missions you can complete with different vehicles. This will allow you to gather experience points and earn virtual currency, to then unlock new driver levels and vehicles in the shop. Moreover, you can use the money you earn to purchase improved parts and vehicles.

You can activate contracts from the quick menu, during the game. Tasks and contests need you to reach the destination of their activation. At the same time, you can have only 1 mission active. Its status can be seen in the top right corner of the screen.

In Snowrunner, you can unlock missions either one by one, by exploring the areas across the map marked with a yellow dashed line or in bulk, upon reaching a watchtower in a given region. The missions are divided into three types:

Contracts

In Snowrunner, contracts are the main missions. You complete for fictional companies. They always revolve around transporting different materials to given destinations. In the mission description, when selecting material and the destination, the cursor on the map will immediately take you to the location, where a given good can be unloaded.

Initially, most of the contracts are blocked. You need to complete a given contract to get access to the next one. They usually yield better rewards than tasks.

In Snowrunner, tasks serve as side missions - SnowRunner: Mission types - Basics - SnowRunner Guide

Tasks

In Snowrunner, tasks serve as side missions. They can revolve around transporting goods; however, they more often require you to tow a vehicle or get it out if it gets stuck. In many cases, you can activate them at the starting location, and not from the menu. The task description includes suggestions to help you complete it, e.g. suggested vehicle class. All the tasks on the list can be completed in any order.

Contests are the third type of missions in SnowRunner - SnowRunner: Mission types - Basics - SnowRunner Guide

Contests

Contests are the third type of missions in SnowRunner. They usually come with specified requirements and a time limit. A contest, e.g. may require you to drive using only the cockpit camera, or completing the mission at night. By adding the time pressure, some contests require you to reach a given point, like in traditional racing games. The rewards depend on the number of stars that you've received based on the time you needed to complete the contest.
