Sniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts is a demanding video game - you play the role of the title sniper, who can't defeat enemies in a direct battle, so the whole game requires a different approach. Keep a safe distance from your enemies

If possible, try to keep your enemies at a distance.

In the game you play the role of a sniper, whose greatest advantage is the ability to effectively eliminate enemies from huge distances. Use it wisely and look for opportunities to eliminate your targets from as far away as possible. In critical situations you can use an assault rifle or a pistol, but remember that the sniper rifle is your main weapon.

Sneaking is the basic strategy

There will be dozens of enemies in each location that patrol various areas and guard some locations in campsites. Also, your enemies will be protecting people hidden inside bases, where the main objective of your mission is located. That's why it's a good idea to move quietly on the map, preferably in a crouched position - while crouching you minimalize the chance that the enemy will hear you and locate your whereabouts. Also remember to use bushes to camouflage yourself.

Eliminate your enemies by stealth attacks

If you have such an option, try to silently assassinate your enemies by using melee attacks and stealth kills. You can silently neutralize the target and save ammunition. Then, you can quickly grab the body and get rid of it.

Interrogate your enemies

Capture and question your enemies whenever you have the opportunity to do so.

If you manage to get near the enemy from behind, you will be able to eliminate them, but you may also question them if you like. The latter option is much more valuable, as it will allow you to know the location of nearby enemies, for example. Interrogation is often one of the challenges that can be completed in a given location. Sometimes, one of your objectives consists in interrogating 3 enemy officers.

Remove dead bodies from enemy sight

Remove the bodies of killed enemies from the patrol paths of their colleagues.

When you neutralize your target and have the opportunity to do so, then remove the body from sight of enemy units and especially from their patrol paths. This will prevent early detection. Additionally, you will be able to obtain some extra items by looting the corpse - money, grenades or ammunition.

Learn the shooting mechanics of sniper rifle

Shots fired from short distances are not a problem, but trouble begins when you are hundreds of meters away from your target.

Sniper rifles in the Sniper: Ghost Warrior series are totally different from those found in typical shooters. The bullet trajectory is affected not only by the distance from the target, but also by the wind - its direction and speed. You can learn how to aim during the tutorial stage (it is worth repeating it if necessary). We have described the shooting mechanics in a separate chapter of our guide.

Always try to shoot at the enemy's head

Anyone familiar with this genre of games knows that headshots are much more effective than regular hits. This is even more important here, as headshots can take out most enemies with one bullet, while it takes up to 3 hits in the torso to kill an enemy. Before you manage to hit your opponent 3 times, you will probably trigger an alarm.

Reload your weapon regularly

Although a sniper rifle doesn't have a fast fire rate, it is always worth making sure that its clip is full of bullets. As your character develops, you will gain access to sniper rifles that are able to shoot more frequently - making the problem of reloading even more serious. It is always better to have a full weapon magazine than to lead to a situation where you will not be able to fire an important shot because you have forgotten to reload your weapon.

Use a variety of sniper ammo

As the game progresses, you will gain access to special ammunition for your sniper rifle. These will include - tracking bullets, which can mark all targets in the vicinity of a hit; EMP bullets, which can destroy nearby electronic devices such as CCTV cameras; anti-tank bullets that can hit the enemy behind the obstacle.

Be careful where you walk

A fall from even a small height can take up a lot of health points.

Your character is not a superhero - falls from small height will significantly reduce your health bar or even kill your character right away. The same applies to jumping into the water - the action of the game takes place in Siberia, which makes the water unsuitable for swimming and staying in it will take away your health points.

Use Mask Mode regularly

Mask Mode lets you see many things, including enemy mines.

Mask Mode is unlocked at the very beginning of the game. By default, it allows you to locate nearby objects and items worthy of attention (crates with equipment, corpses that can be looted), as well as marks enemy mines. You can expand the functionality of this mode by further development of your character. Use Mask Mode all the time - it's free and it makes it easier to explore the terrain.
