Stealth in Seven The Days Long Gone Seven Game Guide

Last update: 05 December 2017

A recommended way to play Seven: The Days Long Gone is to use stealth and avoid confrontations. Below, you can find the most important information about the stealth mechanics and various tips that will help you to stay undetected.

  1. Each enemy has a field of view. You can check it by activating Sense Mode and moving your cursor over a particular character. Important note - field of view is longer during the day and gets shorter during the night. This means that nights are better for infiltrating restricted areas.
  2. Enemies also react to noises but you must count only on your own intuition here. Overall, the best way to move is to crouch constantly because Teriel will create less noise. The game still allows you to sprint in this position but you should use it only in special situations when, e.g. you want to leave a given area before enemies will start heading towards the main hero. Noise is also influenced by the type of surface that you are currently walking on - e.g. metal surfaces are louder. Here, variable weather conditions can also help you. Rain or storm can allow you to avoid enemies or kill them stealthy with greater ease.
  3. In Seven, the only moment when you absolutely have to kill enemies is when a quest's objective demands that. Otherwise, you should always avoid them. There are a few reasons for that - you don't get any XP for killing enemies, each stealth attack has a risk that you can get detected and enemies can respawn after some time.
  4. Dual blades, e.g. daggers, are the best for stealth kills. To perform a perfect kill, you have to stand behind enemy's back and attack from behind or you can get on a ledge above an enemy and jump on them. You will land on this opponent and stab them with your weapons. Search the game's world for better killing tools (pay extra attention to locked crates and safes) and examine corpses of your enemies. Don't spend auryte on weapons during the first few hours of the game. You should do that in the later parts and only when you come across a unique weapon with great stats.
  5. Peh island has many restricted areas that can be accessed only by those who have permission. You can recognize these places by warnings and the icon that appears in the bottom right corner of the screen. Being caught by a camera or a guard raises an alarm. However, you can eliminate that problem by wearing a disguise. Finding the right one (e.g. a Technomagi soldier) will allow you to explore restricted areas. You should get one of these at the beginning of the game and use it regularly. Warning - A disguise only works when you equip all 5 pieces. The game also informs you about that by displaying an additional icon which shows that a disguise is "active".
  6. In Seven, you can change a current time of day. You should use it a lot - activate Sense Mode and press E. You can now speed up time to a particular hour. All restricted areas should be infiltrated during the night. Besides the aforementioned limited field of view, some guards can also go to sleep. This means that you will come across fewer guards. You can also decide to infiltrate enemy locations during morning or evening hours when there is a guard change.
  7. Some environmental objects are very useful in avoiding enemies. Activate Sense Mode and see where you can hide - these places are, e.g. bushes or haystacks. You can hide there and wait until enemies calm down. After that you will be able to continue sneaking. You should also use the fact that the locations are multi-layered. You can avoid guards by, e.g. walking on rooftops, pipes that are high up in the air or in vent shafts.
  8. Some of Teriel's abilities can help you in stealth. The most useful one is invisibility that you can unlock during one of the first main quests on Peh island. You can sneak into heavily guarded locations with greater ease, especially if you don't own a proper disguise yet. Try to also find upgrades for this ability, mainly those that reduce energy use and allow the hero to stay invisible longer. Flash is also a good ability and you get it rather early in the game. This one is useful when you want to move between covers or you want to reach your target quickly.
  9. Relay on lockpicking locked containers and rooms. You can do that in two ways. The first method is to use lockpicks - you will have to complete a simple mini-game. Important note - lockpicks can be upgraded throughout the game which in turn allows you to open more complicated locks. You should also remember to be sure that no one is looking at Teriel when you pick a lock. The second option is to use your Multi-tool. You can open locks really fast BUT it creates a lot of noise which can alarm nearby NPCs. Use it only when there is no one around or you can use it, hide somewhere and wait until guards calm down.
  10. Pickpocketing is another useful function. You can use it to quickly get valuable items (for personal use or to sell later) and to avoid confrontations with enemies who have objects that can be useful in completing a quest. Time stops when you check someone's inventory but the theft takes some time which means that Teriel is "exposed". Check the area first before robbing someone - be sure that he or she won't turn around while Teriel is stealing from them or that no one can see Teriel doing that and raises alarm.
  11. Heavily guarded areas and locations can be reached by using collected items. Mainly keys and keycards carried by enemies in a given area (get them by killing enemies or use pickpocketing). Keys fit only into certain doors but they allow you to avoid using lockpicks or the Multi-tool. Keycards are universal but you need to have one with the right level (e.g. a level 2 keycard for locked doors with security level 2). They are also single-use items. Use keycards only when you need them the most or when you want to break in somewhere fast.
  12. Remember that you can also use gadgets while using stealth. Many of these items are available in the prologue but you lose them when you are sent on Peh island. From now on you can find them in the game's world, buy from merchants or craft yourself. Traps and smoke bombs are especially useful. Traps allow you to get rid of enemies without risking too much. Smoke bombs are helpful in situations when you were detected and you want to outrun your pursuers.
