Sea of Thieves: Fishing, hunting Sea Of Thieves guide, walkthrough

Last update: 13 July 2020

From this chapter of the sea of Thieves game guide, the player will learn how to catch fish properly and use lures, what types of fish are available in the game and where they can be caught, and how to hunt to get meat.

Fishing and hunting various animal species are additional activities in Sea of Thieves, which any pirate can indulge in at any time or when they want to earn The Hunter's Call reputation points. Fishing and hunting are also a great way to get an additional and much better source of food.

Fishing in Sea of Thieves

The fishing rod is part of each pirate's standard equipment and can be found on the second page of your inventory. You don't have to use bait to catch the most common species of Fish (Splashtails), but other fish are more demanding and will only be caught after using earthworms, grubs, or leeches.

Find a suitable fishing spot and drop a bare hook or a suitable bait near a shoal of fish - Sea of Thieves: Fishing, hunting - For Landlubbers - Sea Of Thieves Guide

Find a suitable fishing spot and drop a bare hook or a suitable bait near a shoal of fish. Once the hook is in the water, you'll have to wait a little while for one of the fish to take an interest in it. It can happen that a much larger variety of fish will suddenly appear near the hook. Trophy - these are the most valuable fish and it will be harder to catch them.

When the fish catches the hook, it immediately starts to struggle in different directions, and your task will be to constantly counter its movements and methodically pulling the reel - Sea of Thieves: Fishing, hunting - For Landlubbers - Sea Of Thieves Guide

When the fish catches the hook, it immediately starts to struggle in different directions, and your task will be to constantly counter its movements and methodically pulling the reel. Counteracting is done by pressing a button in the opposite direction to the one in which the fish escapes. When the fish moves to the left, we counter to the right, and when it moves to the front, we counter down, and so on. After a while, the fish will get tired and stop struggling - you now have a few seconds to pull the reel. The operation of countering and reeling must be repeated until the fish is on the surface. Don't worry if your first attempt at fishing fails - it takes some time and patience.

In Sea of Thieves, fish can also be caught during sea voyages. If your trip is taking longer than expected, you can go fishing and catch a few fish that you can later cook and consume or sell.

Raw or cooked fish can be sold in order to gain additional coins and a bit of reputation in The Hunter's Call. Unfortunately, cooked meat and fish cannot be sold wherever you want. You must memorize who is eager to buy them.

You can sell fish and meat directly to Merrick or to any of The Hunters Call representatives - Sea of Thieves: Fishing, hunting - For Landlubbers - Sea Of Thieves Guide

You can sell fish and meat directly to Merrick or to any of The Hunter's Call representatives. It is worth mentioning that cooked fish and cooked meat is worth much more that raw fish and raw meat. In order to sell fish or meat in Sea of Thieves, you must first take it out of the inventory. Then, you must walk towards a NPC and press the action key (by default it's F key).

Merrick and the members of The Hunter's Call can be found in a few locations scattered across the ocean. The spots with the fish merchants are much smaller than port islands. Usually you can find only a single NPC in them. Below you can find a list of all 8 Hunter's Call's posts in the game, divided into locations and with map codes.

  1. The Shores of Plenty - The Spoils of Plenty Store (B-7) and The Shores of Plenty (H-10);
