Sea of Thieves: Combat guide Sea Of Thieves guide, walkthrough

Last update: 13 July 2020

During your journey in the Sea of Thieves, you will run into two main types of enemies: computer-controlled skeletons and other players. The latter ones might attack you - try to communicate with them via the voice chat. According to the developers of the game, the number of players on the server is set in such a way that you won't meet others more often than every 20-30 minutes.

You have access to a set of weapons, as well as your ship's cannons. Each type of weapon is identical for everyone - you can't upgrade it, you can only change its appearance and color.

Your character can carry a sword, as well as a number of firearms:

  1. Cutlass - a sword for melee combat that can be used to block enemy attacks.
  2. Sailor Pistol - a medium-range weapon, moderate damage.
  3. Blunderbuss - a long-range weapon, high damage, can injure multiple enemies at once.
  4. Musket, Eye of Reach - a long-range sniper rifle. The crack in the lense of the weapon's scope marks the center of the crosshair.

Hostile skeletons can attack you with a sword or with a firearm.

Fighting AI-controlled common skeletons is not too complicated. The only difficulty comes from the lack of any aiming device installed on the pistol. Don't let a larger group of enemies surround you and keep your distance when fighting in melee range - close the distance to launch an attack and jump back immediately after. Skeletons have the ability to heal themselves with bananas - just like you.

During a public event in Skeleton Fort, you will find special opponents, who require a completely different tactics. They are much harder to overcome and doing this alone will be a really difficult challenge.

Remember that firearms are single-shot - after each shot you must reload them. Every now and then you will need to refill your supply of bullets from the crate located on the ship. The default armaments can later be replaced with more expensive and exclusive models from the store on the island, but their power won't be any greater.

You always have to watch out for other players and assume that they have hostile intentions. Fortunately, everyone has equal chances - characters in Sea of Thieves cant advance to higher experience levels. - Sea of Thieves: Combat guide - For Landlubbers - Sea Of Thieves Guide
