While playing Saints Row, you may experience problems with losing the pursuit started by police or gang members. On this page of the guide, we explain how the Notoriety starts the pursuit and what to do to lose the opponents chasing you.

Notoriety - types and levels of pursuits

In Saints Row, you can initiate a chase by breaking the law and charging the Notoriety bars - Saints Row 2022: Pursuit - how to lose, how to get rid of Notoriety? - FAQ - Saints Row Guide, Walkthrough

In Saints Row, you can initiate a chase by breaking the law and charging the Notoriety bars. This works in a similar way to the GTA stars - the pursuit can start at level 1 and progress up to level 5, where your opponents will try their best to catch up and kill you.

At any given time, you can be chased by 1 or 2 groups of enemies:

  1. Police officers - you can charge the Notoriety bar by, e.g. stealing cars, colliding with other vehicles or killing innocent people.
  2. Gangsters - there are 3 large gangs in the game world, but only 1 group will chase you at any moment (the one in whose territory you are staying). You can charge the Notoriety bar, e.g. by attacking gangsters, hitting their cars or entering the locations they guard.
The pursuit level is indicated by the bars and icons around the radar in the lower left corner of the screen - Saints Row 2022: Pursuit - how to lose, how to get rid of Notoriety? - FAQ - Saints Row Guide, Walkthrough

The pursuit level is indicated by the bars and icons around the radar in the lower left corner of the screen. In the example shown in the picture above, the gangster chase is on the maximum fifth level, and the police chase on level 1. You will always be informed when a given pursuit advances to the next level.

Try to avoid a situation in which you are chased by two enemy groups since it will be more difficult to end the chase and reset Notoriety.

Remember to check the available perks. One of them, On the Down Low, reduces the Notoriety charging speed. It simply means that you will be able to perform more law-breaking activities before advancing to the next level of the pursuit.

Losing the pursuit in Saints Row is not that obvious, because fast and error-free driving alone may not be enough. The game can cheat to some extent - the enemy vehicles chasing you can catch up with you even if you are moving at maximum speed.

The most important technique is to attack enemy vehicles to destroy them. The best way to do this is to do a Sideswipe (Square/X on the controller when tilting the stick to the left or right). It allows you to hit vehicles on your sides with great force. Alternatively, you can shoot from the cabin, but this can do minor damage to some enemy vehicles.
