How to unlock the quest: through conversation with Garelt.
Quest giver: Garelt (point 15 on the map).
Garelt can be found in the mind neighboring the mages encampment (point 15 on the map) and you should meet this character during your trip to recover pouches containing crystals, associated with the main quest called "New Allies". The speaker will blame a gnome named Dakil for all the delays in the crystal delivery.
Note - during the conversation with the Nameless Hero, Garelt will convince the character to steal a few crystals. You can either complain about Garelt to Frink, and receive 30 Gold or a positive soul point for the act. Doing this won't cancel the quest described in this section. In the further part of the game you will learn that Garelt, as part of his punishment, was deprived his weekly salary by Magnus.
Embark on a journey to the deeper parts of the mine. Given the fact, that the mine itself is rather small, you should find Dakil without breaking a sweat (point 15a on the map). You can force the gnome back to work by three different ways:
- Bribe the gnome - you must offer Dakil 100 Gold pieces. Additionally, you will receive a positive soul point.
- Beat the gnome - paradoxically, it could prove to be tough, as the gnome can dodge your melee attacks perfectly. It's a lot easier to defeat the man by using ranged combat. For knocking the gnome unconscious you will be given 100 Glory Points and a negative soul point.
- Intimidate the gnome - you must have your Intimidation skill developed to at least 40 points to do so. You will be given 25 Gold pieces for this, as well as a negative soul point.
Regardless of your chosen approach, ask Dakil to empty his pockets (Magic Crystal). Go back to Garelt and inform him that Dakil returned back to his work.
Rewards for completing the quest:
- 220 Glory Points
- 5 Gold
