The quest is triggered automatically when Meeks [#1] and his particularly ugly friend from the depths - the Sunken One - find out you've been eavesdropping on their conversation on the beach (see: Night-time Pursuit). Both "gentlemen" will immediately rush at you, which means fighting is inevitable.
Meeks is no more challenging than other pirates, but the Sunken One is much more problematic. If you're bad at melee combat, don't let the creature draw a knife at any cost. Just shoot him with your gun and then withdraw to a safe distance, repeating the same procedure over and over again. When both opponents fall, the quest will be completed.
Captain Steelbeard [#2], currently aboard the ship in the docks, will be very interested to hear about your night-time adventure on the beach. Killing the creature of the depths will make him so glad he'll take it into account of your achievements to become a pirate. You don't even have to tell him about it, he'll start the subject as soon as you visit him. Taking care of the traitor will also earn you a reward from Booze [#3], so don't forget to go to him after the completion of the quest.
Rewards:
- 100 Glory points for completing the quest;
- 100 Glory points for killing the Sunken One;
- 50 Glory points for killing Meeks;
- 250 Gold for informing Booze about the completion of the quest.
