Shoot the monsters from safe distance whenever it is possible

Before you start the game, you should set controls. Most of all, you can select from five control schemes (Type A - Type E). The default type A is most efficient and you can remain with it.

It is much more important to decide whether you want to use the recommended Alternate control set or the Original one. In the alternate set the character you control will always go in the direction to which the analog stick was moved (for example, he will go left if you moved the analog stick to the left). How much you will move the stick will determine whether the character will go or run. In the original set the character will move only if the stick is moved towards up or down. Moving it to the left or right will cause the character to start turning. Surprisingly, it is a much better control scheme for this game. It is so because the camera that shows the action in Resident Evil Zero HD is static and when it changes it is much easier to lose orientation in the alternate set (for example, after the camera change the character will run towards the upper edge of the screen instead of the lower one). The only disadvantage of the original set is the fact that in order to start running you must hold an additional button. Luckily, one can learn a habit of holding it very quickly. In summary, we recommend Type A and Original control scheme for playing the game.

Another important matter is how you can attack all monsters you encounter. No matter what weapon you intend to use (knife, pistol, shotgun, Molotov's cocktails etc.), you must first press and hold the aiming button. Only after then you can press the attack button (responsible for shooting, pushing the knife etc). It means that when you attack enemies you cannot move. You must keep that in mind since the very beginning of the game so that you won't get eaten by the first zombies you meet. Because of such control system, you must always try to attack the enemies from as far away as possible. Thanks to that you won't get captured by them, you will be able to easily change your position and the risk of being hurt by ranged attacks of some enemies will be reduced. The only exception is when you use knife or shotgun and you want to deal as much damage as possible on a small distance. In that case you can risk more and let the enemies get close or move towards them yourself.

Important - There is an additional move available in the game that allows you to immediately turn 180 degrees. It activates when you press the bottom button on the d-pad and the run/reload button at the same time. Using this action is very helpful when you intend to quickly get away from an enemy.
