Resident Evil Village: Crafting guide Resident Evil Village guide, walkthrough

Last update: 01 June 2021

On this page you will find information about crafting in Resident Evil Village. You will mainly learn how to unlock crafting in the first place, how to obtain crafting ingredients, and what kinds of things can be crafted.

Key information about crafting

Crafting is available from the beginning of the game, but you cannot use 100% of its options right away - Resident Evil Village: Crafting - Basics - Resident Evil Village Guide

Crafting is available from the beginning of the game, but you cannot use 100% of its options right away. It has its own separate tab in the Inventory menu.

In order to create an item you need to have - Resident Evil Village: Crafting - Basics - Resident Evil Village Guide

In order to create an item you need to have:

1) The recipe for it - Ethan will know only two recipes at first. You have to gradually buy new recipes at Duke's.

The recipes are not very expensive and are worth purchasing from Duke as soon as they become available. This will allow you to craft different types of items based on what you need at the time.

2) Ingredients - Each item requires a few specific ingredients - Resident Evil Village: Crafting - Basics - Resident Evil Village Guide

2) Ingredients - Each item requires a few specific ingredients. You can find these items in the game world as loot.

It's important to note that the ingredients needed to craft different items can partially overlap. This means that by crafting one item, you can temporarily block the ability to craft another. Try to avoid this issue by not using all the ingredients you have. Always have some in reserve so that you can make a first aid med or a specific type of ammo if you suddenly need it.

Three trophies are related to crafting: Crafter, Tinkerer and Artisan. The first one is very easy to unlock, but the other two can only be obtained after the first playthrough of the entire game.

Below, you will find the descriptions of all 11 recipes needed for crafting.

Pistol Ammo

Crafting is available from the very beginning of the game.

This recipe allows you to make ammo for all types of hand guns. Pistol ammo comes in handy especially in the early chapters, where a pistol will be your primary weapon against most of the ordinary enemies. It's not as important later in the game, although you will be able to acquire better guns and upgrade their stats.

First Aid Med

Crafting is available from the very beginning of the game.

This recipe allows you to make meds. This is very important, especially on higher difficulty levels where Ethan can easily take serious damage. Try to use the crafting option primarily before each new boss fight. It would be neat to have 2-3 meds on hand before starting a boss fight.

Mines

You have to buy the recipe from Duke. The earliest chance to do so comes during the first meeting with Duke in front of the Dimitrescu Castle.

This recipe allows you to make mines. They can help you weaken some of the elite enemies. If you don't use them regularly, you should find many mines as loot. You can also pick the unused mines back up. Before such boss fights as ones with Moreau or Urias, crafting some mines is a good idea, so that you have plenty of them on hand when the fight starts.

Shotgun Ammo

You have to buy the recipe from Duke. The earliest chance to do so comes during the first meeting with Duke in front of the Dimitrescu Castle.

This recipe allows you to make ammo for all types of shotguns. It is probably the most useful recipe of all, because shotguns come in handy throughout the whole game. You will use them to eliminate or weaken different types of monsters. You should always make sure that you have some shotgun ammo on hand, because if you don't, it can significantly hinder your progress in some fights.

Sniper Rifle Ammo

You have to buy the recipe from Duke. The earliest chance to do so comes during the first meeting with Duke in front of the Dimitrescu Castle.

This recipe allows you to make sniper rifle ammo. This recipe is obviously helpful, although the sniper rifle is used less often than the pistol or shotgun - it mainly comes in handy to eliminate enemies from a very long distance, or ones that move rather slowly. You can also find a lot of sniper rifle ammo by exploring the map.

Pipe Bombs

You have to buy the recipe from Duke. The earliest chance to do so comes after you return to the village from the Dimitrescu Castle.

This recipe allows you to craft pipe bombs. In our opinion, they are not as helpful as mines, but they can still be useful in certain types of fights, especially when you want to weaken or eliminate several enemies that are close to one another.

Explosive Round

You have to buy the recipe from Duke. The earliest chance to do so comes after you return to the village from House Beneviento.

This recipe allows you to make explosive rounds for the grenade launcher. They are extremely helpful in attacking all bosses and stronger enemies. However, you can also use the explosive rounds to attack groups of monsters, especially if you want to get rid of them quickly. Grenade launcher ammo can be found in the game world, but it's also worth crafting it.

Flashbang

You have to buy the recipe from Duke. The earliest chance to do so comes after you return to the village from House Beneviento.

This recipe allows you to produce flashbangs for the grenade launcher. Flashbangs can be helpful during selected boss fights (e.g. the one with Urias), although you should be aware that they don't deal damage by themselves, but rather expose enemies to further attacks or allow you to escape. In most cases, though, you can do without them, and you'll be better off spending the ingredients on something else.

Rifle Ammo

You have to buy the recipe from Duke. This is possible starting from the second playthrough of the game (New Game Plus). Unfortunately, you can't get this recipe when playing the game for the first time.

This recipe allows you to craft ammo for the assault rifle. First, you need to buy one of the available rifles in the Extra Content Shop. This weapon can be good enough to deal with most of the stronger enemies. However, you must remember to shoot short bursts, because you can run out of ammo very easily.

Magnum Ammo

You have to buy the recipe from Duke. This is possible starting from the second playthrough of the game (New Game Plus). Unfortunately, you can't get this recipe when playing the game for the first time.

This recipe allows you to craft ammo for Magnum, which is the best weapon category in the game. It's worth purchasing this recipe and using it until you get the option to unlock unlimited Magnum ammo. You will be able to win boss fights much more efficiently, which will be very important when playing on higher difficulty levels.

Rocket Pistol Ammo

You have to buy the recipe from Duke. This is possible starting from the second playthrough of the game (New Game Plus). Unfortunately, you can't get this recipe when playing the game for the first time.

This recipe allows you to make ammo for the Rocket Pistol. Unfortunately, though this weapon is extremely useful, it can only be purchased in the Extra Content Shop very late, because you first need to complete the whole campaign on the highest difficulty level - Village of Shadows. Once you have this weapon, you can also buy an ammo recipe from Duke.
