Goats of Warding - introductory information

Goats are small moving wooden objects that you can find as you progress through the game. Each goat makes a distinctive sound and you may find this helpful in locating it. Many goats are well hidden, so you'll have to look around very carefully.

Goats are one of the main Resident Evil Village collectibles. Throughout the game, you can find 20 goats. Finding them earns you the Cynic and Heretic trophies.

Each goat must be destroyed after you manage to find it. For this purpose, you can use a firearm or, if you manage to get close to the goat, a knife. A correctly attacked goat will "magically" disappear.

In the following sections of this page, you will find information on where to find the goats. These secrets can be easily missed, but you don't have to worry about having to restart the entire game. If you have manual saves (thanks to using a typewriter), then you can load the game somewhere around the location of the missed goat. After you reach it and get rid of it, you can immediately return to the main menu. Your progress in finding the goats is automatically saved in the background and counted in the Challenges menu of the game - find Heretic in the list of challenges.

Village: the first visit

1/20 The goat is in a clearly visible location on the altar (Graveyard) in the central part of the village. You must examine the altar in the image above.

2/20 The goat is on the roof of the church adjacent to the cemetery. We have marked it on the picture - it is best to use a sniper rifle to shoot it down.

3/20 The goat can be found in the northern part of the Fallow Plot, the location first traversed on the way to Louisa's house. Examine the northern area marked in image 2. The goat is on the wall.

4/20 You can find the goat after getting out of the mine, on the way from the village to the castle. You will arrive at the Wineyard with several scarecrows. You will visit this location just before your first encounter with the Duke, the merchant. Once at the location shown in image 1, go right to find the goat situated on the rocks.

Castle Dimitrescu

5/20 You can find the goat right after you solve the puzzle in the Hall of Ablution and unlock the exit to the basement adjacent to the Distillery. The collectible is on the stone floor next to the lit candles.

6/20 You can find the Goat when you reach the Attic. It was placed on one of the chests.

Village: second visit

7/20 The goat is hidden under the stone steps next to the drawbridge. Ethan will first pass through here shortly after leaving Castle Dimitrescu, but you can also return here later in the game.

8/20 The goat is in the higher part of the cemetery, east of the church. You can get there by using the Iron Insignia Key found in the castle. The collectible lies in the snow.

9/20 The goat is next to the gardener's house, which you can find while crossing the village. The collectible is on the lower roof adjacent to the main building marked in image 1.

Beneviento House

10/20 You can take care of destroying the goat while traveling to House Beneviento or on your way back to the village. You must reach the Suspension Bridge. Use the sniper rifle and target the adjacent Suspension Bridge because that's where the goat is situated.

11/20 You can find the goat just after reaching House Beneviento. Before going inside, examine the area on the left as marked in the image. The goat will be on the other side of the fence located right at the edge of the cliff.

Reservoir

12/20 The goat is on the platform with the first windmill in the Reservoir, i.e. the one with the breakable crank. You will find the collectible next to the stored wood.

13/20 You can spot the goat while getting through the central part of the Reservoir, an area with a lot of partially flooded buildings. Stop at the spot shown in the images above, where you have to push the carriage down for the first time. The collectible is on top of one of the tall objects sticking out of the water.

14/20 You can easily miss the moment when you can acquire this goat. You must search for it after defeating the Moreau boss in the Reservoir area, BUT before you leave the area, i.e. before you use the elevator in the mine. You need to return to the place where you got on the boat earlier. By opening the sluice, you will now be able to explore the inside of the windmill marked in image 1.

Stronghold

15/20 You will find the goat near the end of the Stronghold exploration, shortly before reaching the lair of the Urias boss. Look around for it after opening the large gate and going down the twisted staircase.

16/20 The goat is in the altar, which you will find next to the Otto's Mill, adjacent to the stronghold.

Factory

17/20 Goat can be found in the Ventilation Duct, where the main character must avoid being sucked in by a huge working fan. After avoiding death, don't go forward immediately, but turn back and explore the area marked in image 2. The collectible will be here.

18/20 You can destroy the goat when using the freight elevator (the one with the Duke), but only after unlocking level B1. Travel between level B1 and B3, waiting for an opportunity to shoot down the collectible while riding the elevator. It's best to use a shotgun to destroy the goat, that way you won't have to aim precisely at the goat.

19/20 Goat can be found shortly after defeating the Prototype Sturm boss on level B1. Enter the adjacent control room and then go through the ventilation shaft into the even smaller room marked in the image. The goat was placed on a barrel.

Finale

20/20 You can destroy the last goat by playing Chris, specifically after reaching the cavern with the Megamycete object, as shown in the picture. After Chris places the payload on the big red creature, look around on the right side of the area. The secret will be in a dark spot - shoot at it.
