Most important information about Clockwork Castellans
There are 16 Castellans - one for each chapter. You don't have to worry about collecting all of them in every playthrough, because they are saved to a separate "general" file, independent of the others. Therefore, if you saved the game at the beginning of each chapter, you can quickly find the missing Castellans.
In the summary at the end of each chapter you can see if you have found the Castellan. You can also do this on the Results screen (also accessible from the pause menu), where you can also find other statistics about the entire game and individual chapters. You will know whether you have found a Castellan in a particular chapter by its icon next to the chapter number (as in the image above).
For finding all Castellans, you will get the opportunity to buy an indestructible knife (Primal Knife) from the Content Shop for 1,000 CP. To make it indestructible, however, you need to upgrade it completely, including an additional option.

The first Clockwork Castellan can be found at the end of Chapter 1 in a location called Lakeside Settlement - where you are attacked by a group of enemies, several of whom have dynamite. There is also a Door with Insignia in the area, which you cannot open yet. You will also recognize the right place by the sounds of the strikes in the background. Before you go underground in the right building, look for a house that you can get into through a window (there was an enemy throwing dynamite in this building). The Castellan is under the dilapidated roof.

To be able to destroy the fourth Castellan, you will need an Insignia Key. You also need to be able to use the jet ski, which is why the earliest you can find this Castellan is Chapter 4. Head north on the lake to the location described on the map as Lakeside Settlement.
There, you will find a Door with Insignia - a closed door, which you may have already come across in Chapter 1. After opening them, head deeper into the cave and to the western part of the cave, where you will find a ladder leading upwards. Use it and you will find yourself in a new location called Forest Altar. The Castellan is in its northern part, behind the fence.

You can reach the fifth Castellan only if you are accompanied by Ashley, so you have to wait until Chapter 5 and then return to the previously visited location. We are talking about Village Chief's Manor - the place where you found an Insignia Key. In the same room there is a lever that lowers the ladder - but not all the way, so you need Ashley to get to the attic. The Castellan is located on its southern wall.
