Broken Butterfly and Killer7 are magnums in RE4 Remake. On this page, you will find information on how to unlock a magnum, how to upgrade this weapon and increase its firepower, as well as how to replenish your magnum ammunition supply (e.g. crafting).
Magnum #1 - Broken Butterfly
Magnum revolvers have always been some of the most powerful weapons in RE games, and it's no different in Resident Evil 4 Remake.
You can buy the magnum at the earliest in chapter 7 - it's called the Broken Butterfly, which will appear in the merchant's offer right after you start exploring the castle.
The revolver is on sale in chapter 7 - it is 30% cheaper meaning the weapon costs 29,400 coins. We recommend selling unnecessary items from your inventory to have enough coins to buy it. In addition, you must have free 2x3 slots in your inventory (use Storage at any Typewriter if necessary).
Magnum #2 - Killer7
The second magnum can be bought from chapter 13 onward, once you reach the Island. In the southern caves, you will find the first merchant's stall.
Killer7 costs 77,700 coins - it comes with a laser sight which can help you be more precise. This will reduce the risk of wasting rare ammunition.
Magnum ammunition
By buying Broken Butterfly magnum in chapter 7, you will also get Recipe: Magnum Ammo for free. Otherwise, you will have to pay for it.
Gunpowder x17 and Resources (S) x1 (small resources) are necessary to make magnum ammo.
You can also find Magnum Ammo as loot, but it is rare.
Do not use magnums on regular enemies. Save those weapons for bosses and other tougher enemies.
Upgrading the revolvers
Both magnum models have good starting stats, but they are worth further upgrading. Decide which one you want to upgrade since this process is expensive. You have to visit the merchant and go to the Tune Up tab.
Prioritize Power upgrades, which will further increase magnum's firepower. Initially, you can buy 3 upgrades. The next chapters will add 2 more (even more expensive).
Purchasing all magnum upgrades unlocks the Exclusive item - the weapon's total firepower increases by 1.5x.
