Resident Evil 3: Rank S - how to get it? Resident Evil 3 guide, walkthrough

Last update: 09 April 2020

This page of the guide to Resident Evil 3 Remake explains how to get an S rank, the highest rank for completing the game. We have included information on the requirements for unlocking the S rank on all difficulty levels.

The S Rank is the highest available rank, regardless of the difficulty level chosen - Resident Evil 3: Rank S - how to get it? - FAQ - Resident Evil 3 Guide

The S Rank is the highest available rank, regardless of the difficulty level chosen. RE3 Remake doesn't have an S+ rank.

What is rank? This is an assessment of your overall performance - there are only two factors influencing your rank:

  1. Clear Time - You must complete the game within the required time limit for a given rank. The higher the rank, the more you have to hurry (speedrun).
  2. Times Saved - Only the S rank requires you must fit within the manual saves limit. The other ranks (A, B, C) don't have such requirement, you can save as many times as you want. You can, of course, always rely on auto saves.

The number of deaths doesn't affect the rank directly, although they can unnecessarily extend the total playing time and reduce the chances of completing the game within a specific time limit.

You cant check your current rank (score) during a playthrough - Resident Evil 3: Rank S - how to get it? - FAQ - Resident Evil 3 Guide

You can't check your current rank (score) during a playthrough. The rank is displayed on the summary screen after beating the game.

Fortunately, you can check the current play time. It is displayed in the top right corner after pausing the game.

Cheats dont prevent you from gaining the S rank - Resident Evil 3: Rank S - how to get it? - FAQ - Resident Evil 3 Guide

Cheats don't prevent you from gaining the S rank. We highly recommend you use the shop - especially the Recovery Coin and weapons with unlimited ammunition (mainly the rocket launcher).

The S rank is part of two trophies/achievements. Sensational requires you to complete the game with the S rank on any difficulty level (we recommend choosing Assisted), and the Jill Valentine trophy requires completing the game on Inferno with the S rank.

Here are the exact requirements for getting the S rank on each difficulty level:
