Field crops in Pure Farming 2018 Pure Farming 2018 Guide and Walkthrough

Field crops are the core of Pure Farming 2018 game. Check out our guide to learn about preparing a field, harvesting, plowing, cultivation, fertilization, sowing, irrygation and spraying.

Last update: 14 March 2018

Pure Farming 2018 allows you to grow various types of crops. However, they depend on a region in which you are. Crops and grains grow in different numbers, they have a different market value and they usually require different machines. This chapter contains the general information about the process of harvesting crops as well as the detailed descriptions of all types of crops and the amount that you get after harvesting them (when conditions are perfect and you have done everything to prepare your field).

Preparing a field and harvesting

There are a few steps in preparing your field:

Plowing a rice field. - Field crops in Pure Farming 2018 - Farm work and investments - Pure Farming 2018 Game Guide
Plowing a rice field.
  1. Plowing - done with a plough; this is the hardest work that must be done during this process. You have to do it every time before you want to grow potatoes and after buying a new field. Plowing should be done after every fourth harvest. Plowing a field when it isn't necessary can slightly increase your crops. Seeds can be planted in a freshly plowed ground. Always plow your field after noticing that your crops have withered.
  2. Cultivation - this process is much easier than plowing. You can skip it and do only plowing and then planting.
You can use either a synthetic or an organic fertilizer (if you have cows). - Field crops in Pure Farming 2018 - Farm work and investments - Pure Farming 2018 Game Guide
You can use either a synthetic or an organic fertilizer (if you have cows).
  1. Fertilization - this is an important step for your crops' efficiency. You should do it before you can observe the first signs of growth. However, it is completely optional. You can use a synthetic or an organic fertilizer (produced by cows).
Sowing or planting should be done on a well-prepared field (after cultivation / plowing). - Field crops in Pure Farming 2018 - Farm work and investments - Pure Farming 2018 Game Guide
Sowing or planting should be done on a well-prepared field (after cultivation / plowing).
  1. Sowing - the most important process, without it nothing will grow on your field. You can do it right after plowing or cultivating. Be sure that you have the right seeds in your seeder before you start the process.
You can irrigate your fields by using the same tank that you use for transporting water to orchards and greenhouses. - Field crops in Pure Farming 2018 - Farm work and investments - Pure Farming 2018 Game Guide
You can irrigate your fields by using the same tank that you use for transporting water to orchards and greenhouses.
  1. Irrigation - this is an optional step. It is only necessary when soil moisture goes down below 20%. You can do it at any moment by pouring water from the tank.
  2. Spraying - it can increase the number of crops. You should do it because this is the fastest activity out of all described here. You have to pay for a fertilizer but it won't be much. Spraying is done after noticing the first sprouts (or in the second stage of growth).

In conclusion: you only need plowing/cultivating + sowing to have anything grow on your field. The number of crops depends on how many additional works you have done. However, random factors such as irrigation and temperature also have impact here. Each additional activity that isn't mandatory (plowing + cultivating, fertilizing + spraying) increase your crops by 10% per activity. The quality of soil also impacts your crops. This information is displayed when you are buying a field. The best quality is 1. A field with a lower class reduces your crops by about 10% per class (around -20% less crops for a class 3 field when compared to a class 1). Also, check out information about a suggested type of crops (grains/tubers). Your profits can be really low if you plant the wrong type of a crop.

Tip - Level 2 machines (the game has 3 levels overall) are enough if your fields aren't bigger than 2ha. However, you should know that Akpil Gepard Drill 3 cultivates and sows at the same time.

Montana: grains

In USA, you can plant 3 types of grains: barley, wheat and rye. It doesn't matter which one you pick up. You can decide to plant various grains and be able to sell those that currently have the highest selling price.

Try to invest in a better harvester than the default one during the initial stage of the game. - Field crops in Pure Farming 2018 - Farm work and investments - Pure Farming 2018 Game Guide
Try to invest in a better harvester than the default one during the initial stage of the game.

However, you can also decide to "specialize" in one type of grain by collecting a lot of it, wait for good prices on the market and sell everything at once. The average prices for all of the grains differ from one another but the same goes for how much crops you get which means that there isn't a grain that is more profitable than the others. Grain seeds are only for sale but you can also find straw in the place that you have harvested - it can be used in raising cattle. The average harvesting from a fully prepared field: 6 - 9t / ha (depends on a type of grain).

Required machines:

  1. Harvester with attachment - there are three models that differ in how wide they can cut, how fast they work and their capacity. It is better to buy a better harvester than a cheaper one.
  2. Tractor with a trailer / truck.
  3. Plough, seeder.

Optional:

  1. Cultivator.
  2. Fertilizer spreader / a trailer for organic fertilizer.
  3. Sprayer.

Montana: potatoes

Potatoes are a special type of a plant. They require a soil suitable for tubers and the process of harvesting them requires a lot of time and is very expensive. The planting process is similar to that of sowing grains. However, you have to remember to always plow a field after your previous harvesting. During this process you have to use a special planter. To collect them you need a special harvester attached to a tractor. Remember that you get a lot while collecting your crops which means that you should get a good trailer and an optional warehouse where you can store potatoes.

Potatoes can give you about 3x more profits (an average amount of potatoes per 1ha is 20-20t) when compared to Montana's grains harvested from the same field.

Required machines:

  1. Akpil Kartoffel harvester.
  2. Tractor with a trailer / a truck.
  3. Plough and a potato planter.

Optional:

  1. Cultivator.
  2. Fertilizer spreader / a trailer for organic fertilizer.
  3. Sprayer.

Colombia: hemp

Cultivating hemps is the same as with any other plant. The only difference is that these plants need a lot of water (which is caused by Colombia's climate) which means that you need to be prepared to use a water tank a lot.

Hemps are easy to maintain and they are profitable. - Field crops in Pure Farming 2018 - Farm work and investments - Pure Farming 2018 Game Guide

You can prepare your field with the same machines as usual. However, harvesting hemps requires a special harvester with an attachment (Gomselmash PALESSE FS8060). This harvester is fast and agile but it has one flaw - it doesn't have its own container. You have to attach Metaltech DB8 trailer (this is the only trailer that is compatible with this harvester). This trailer doesn't have a great capacity which means that you should buy two so you will be able to switch between a full and an empty one while you are on a field - take a full trailer to a place where you can sell its content or go to a warehouse. 1ha field generates about 11t of crops.

Japan: rice

Cultivating rice is one of the easiest tasks in the game because you only need to plow a field and then sow - that's it. The only catch here is that you need a special machine to sow rice - Redlands Champion RP 824. It works similarly to other seeders but this one works automatically. However, it has a small container for seeds. You should know that the rice harvester - Redlands Champion TR22 - can only be unloaded into Metaltech PH4 trailer.
