Crew Quarters | Side Quests Prey Guide

Last update: 02 June 2017

Here you can find walkthroughs for side quests in Prey that can be accessed in the Crew Quarters, i.e. one of the many bigger areas of the Talos I station. Finishing them is totally optional, but the missions can yield some interesting items.

The Cook's Request

Prepare a nullwave-transmitter trap in a tactically convenient place and attack the telepath - Crew Quarters | Side Quests - Side Quests - Prey Game Guide
Prepare a nullwave-transmitter trap in a tactically convenient place and attack the telepath

The quest will be automatically unloacked after entering Crew quarters for the first time. Will Mitchell will contact the protagonist via an intercom, and will request you solve a problem in the Cafeteria.

The Cafeteria is located in the southern part of the map, on level 1. Upon the arrival, you will find that a Telepath has possessed the people in the vicinity. Begin the encounter by setting a nullwave charge in a place that gives you a tactical advantage. Then attack the creature directly; try to not let it escape, because it will make the fight longer. As concerns the workers - deal only with those that are able to close in on you and explode. The rest will faint when the telepath is eliminated.

When youre done, approach the barricaded windows of the kitchen - Crew Quarters | Side Quests - Side Quests - Prey Game Guide

When you're done, approach the barricaded windows of the kitchen. The window shutters will open, and you'll be able to talk to Mitchell personally. He will give you an access card and you will be asked to bring him his award.

Willa Mitchell's cabin is also found in the Crew Cabins A - on your way there, you can encounter more possesed people (on top of that, an poltergeist can attack you from the restroom). Open the cabin with the card. Search it (you will find a TranScribe). The most important thing, however, is to take the Macon Noble Chef Award (shown above - it's lying on a night table). Go back to Will and hand over the award. You will be able to use the side entrance to the kitchen, which was previously impossible.

Warning - During one of your meetings with Will you can also kill him and get Best Served Cold achievement. In the later part of the quest (or as a result of your exploration of the kitchen's freezer) you learn who he really is and why he deserves to die.

Will is going to have another task for you - this time, youll need a new water pressure regulator - Crew Quarters | Side Quests - Side Quests - Prey Game Guide

Will is going to have another task for you - this time, you'll need a new water pressure regulator. This problem can be tackled in two different ways: you can either use your Repair skill to repair the regulator lying on the floor, hence solving the problem.

The other way will require finding a new requlator in the Arboretum. After getting to that location, investigate the greenhouse located in the southern part. In order to open it, interact with the console shown on picture 1, and use Hacking III to crack the system. You can either enter the greenhouse right away, or activate the sprinklers first, which will chase away the telepath that hides there. In the greenhouse, there are some possessed workers and the telepath. To kill the telepath, you can use the Q ray, and to eliminate the people you might resort to the turret located near the entrance. However you decide to deal with the situation, go look for the water pressure regulator (picture 2).

Fix the water pressure regulator and Will Mitchell will let you into the freezer - Crew Quarters | Side Quests - Side Quests - Prey Game Guide

Fix the water pressure regulator and Will Mitchell will let you into the freezer. Unfortunately, the cook turns out to be a mischievous bastard and locks you in there. Investigate your whereabouts. In one of the rooms of the freezer, you can find a pack of 3 neuromods and a Q ray cannon. When you reach the place shown above, you have two ways: either move the block of icec with Strength II or shoot the nearby valve for the fire to melt it.

Before you leave, investigate the corpse of Abigail Foy, and listen to the recording from her TranScribe. This will unlock a mission related to Will, called Danielle Sho.

Go through the vent shaft and squeeze through to get to the kitchen - Crew Quarters | Side Quests - Side Quests - Prey Game Guide

Go through the vent shaft and squeeze through to get to the kitchen. The quest will disappear from your journal when you do that (the extention of this quest will be the Danielle Sho quest that I just mentioned).

Head towards the kitchen's exit, but remember - haste makes waste. Mitchell left a trap shown above - an active recycler charge. You can disarm it if you have the Repair I skill, or simply shoot it. In the latter case, maintain safe distance, or you'll die.

Danielle Sho

This quest can be activated during the mission described above - Crew Quarters | Side Quests - Side Quests - Prey Game Guide

This quest can be activated during the mission described above. After you are locked in the kitchen's freezer by Will Mitchell you must reach the place where you can find Abigail Foy's corpse presented in the picture above. You must examine them and listen to the recording stored on the TranScribe.

After getting out of the trap in the kitchen you must head to the Fitness Center located in the north edge of the level 1s map - Crew Quarters | Side Quests - Side Quests - Prey Game Guide

After getting out of the trap in the kitchen you must head to the Fitness Center located in the north edge of the level 1's map. You must be careful because in the Fitness Center you can find a Typhon Telepath that is mind-controlling people in the area. If you want you can eliminate the station workers first and the best place to do that is the narrow corridor adjacent to the Locker Room. You can place turrets there, use your firearms or damage gas pipes. As for the Telepath, just like with the battle in the Canteen, it is worth to use Nullwave transmitter and then switch to some other weapon.

After the fights you must get closer to the glass pointed by the game, and presented in the picture, located on the north wall of the Fitness Center. Soon, Danielle Sho will arrive and you must speak with her. During the meeting she asks you to kill Will Mitchell when you get a chance (this objective appears only when he is still alive after the meeting in the kitchen).

Grav shaft leading to the captains bridge. - Crew Quarters | Side Quests - Side Quests - Prey Game Guide
Grav shaft leading to the captain's bridge.

In order to complete this mission, you must head to Talos I Bridge. The passage leading there can be found in Arboretum. Once there, look for a grav shaft leading to the hallway with doors and use it to reach the new area. Note - this action won't be possible if the blockade on passages and gates imposed by Alex Yu is still active. If that's the case, postpone this mission until you complete Reboot main mission (after restating Talos I Reactor).

Once youve reached Talos I Bridge, head west and use the new grav shaft located there - Crew Quarters | Side Quests - Side Quests - Prey Game Guide

Once you've reached Talos I Bridge, head west and use the new grav shaft located there. This will allow you to reach level -1 of this location. You can now enter the room with the escape pods.

Luka (Will Mitchell) is hiding in the pod shown in the above screenshot. DON"T APPROACH HIM, as he's willing to die. There's a recycler charge planted (as shown in the above screenshot), inside of the pod - a trap that can be detonated by Luka. This problem can be solved by using your weapon to hit the charge. Luke will die and you will complete the mission (and receive Best Served Cold achievement / tropchy, provided that you haven't killed the person impersonating Will Mitchell).
