On this page of the Oddworld Soulstorm guide, you will find the first part of the passage of Mission 12 - the Sanctum. Our solution tells you how to use the flashlight correctly, how to avoid traps in the catacombs, where to find and how to save 4 Mudokons, as well as how to reach the central chamber where the Keeper lives.
Additional note: The green color in this walkthrough stands for secrets and unique locations/activities associated with the badges (challenges) in the game. Mission 12 badges were described on a separate page of the guide.
Abe will find the torch lying on the ground shortly after the start of this mission. This is the main gadget for lighting up the darkness in the first part of the stage. We can use the right analog knob to select the lighting location.
The flashlight has limited battery capacity, but you just need to let go of the right analog knob to automatically start charging it. This will allow us to resume the use of the flashlight. Do not ignore it, because the flashlight will be helpful in finding secrets and avoiding traps and other dangers (in the further part of the mission).
Saving 4 Mudokons
The initial phase of the march is very linear, and we should get into the habit of looking down after reaching each edge of the rock shelf - we look, supported by the flashlight, for places where we can safely leave or jump to a nearby ladder. Abe may die as a result of a fall from a great height.
After one of the jumps we can go left or right. We will squeeze through the left hole (picture 1), so we will reach the secret area and the first sick Mudokon. We can cure him (Abe has the antidote all the time) and immediately activate the local bird portal to save him.
We're going right now. In a few moments we will reach the second sick Mudokon in a dark place. We treat him and return with him to the left, and therefore to the same bird portal which we used earlier.
We continue the march through the catacombs, which involves descending or jumping to the lower shelves and corridors.
After one of the jumps again we will be able to choose between the left and right path. We will squeeze to the right, that is, towards the Royal Jelly secret visible on the edge of the screen. It is also a new secret area.
We leave the secret place and choose the left path to continue the march. After one of the jumps we meet the third sick Mudokon. We treat him and go with him further down the road. The linear path will lead us to the bird portal - we activate it.
Attention - let's make sure to get closer to the portal. This will then be treated as unlocking the secret area.
We go right. After the next jump, we can choose between the left and right paths again. As in one of the previous levels of the catacombs, the path on the right leads to the secret area with the secret royal jelly.
We leave the secret area and move on. Soon we will come to a very easy to find the fourth sick Mudokon. After healing him, we can immediately open a nearby bird portal.
Note - as before, we approach the portal to add a new secret area to the list of discovered things.
Finding the Keeper
We continue the crossing remembering to rely on safe jumps. We reach the passage with the likeness of a Mudokon's hand - we take it.
We'll find ourselves in a better - lit area, and we need to head to the right. After a while, there will be a longer cutscene from the meeting with the Keeper. After its completion, we will automatically go to another part of the catacombs.
