Happiness in Northgard Northgard Guide & Walkthrough

Last update: 20 March 2018

Maintaining high happiness is an important aspect of governing a clan. Low happiness and a negative value of this statistic make you unable to recruit new villagers. Moreover, each unsatisfied settler decreases your productivity. The lock will be active until you've increased the happiness of the villagers. Happiness is influenced by three factors:

The first are the Skalds and the Brewers. You can train them by using the Skald Hall and Brewery. Their presence increases the happiness of your villagers. More the merrier - as their numbers increase, our villagers become happier. As a result, they are a good safeguard against negative happiness. If the villagers' happiness approaches a critical point, build a new Hall of Skalds or upgrade an already existing structure.

The next aspect that influences happiness is the amount of conquered territories. Your men stay happy provided you systematically add new zones to your village.

The third aspect is the state of your citizens. Every wounded villager or a low amount of houses decreases the citizens' happiness.

You can look above the citizen panel to receive information about trade routes, as well as the amount of wounded or sick civilians. - Happiness in Northgard - Game Mechanics - Northgard Game Game Guide

The third mechanic comes into play especially when you've been attacked and a large amount of citizens has suffered wounds. Healing takes time - your happiness may be affected long after the attack has been repealed. The only way of getting through a difficult time is building another Healer's Hut and employing new healers. If you don't need additional healers or a single hut will suffice, you can remove one of the huts after all citizens had been healed.
