Chromatic Metal is required to start the basic activities in the base in No Man's Sky. If you are starting a new game after the update, the creators will show you how to make this resource. However, if you load an old save, you'll have to take into account that you will have to discover everything by yourself.

To create a Chromatic Metal you must have a Portable Refiner first. It is a device for cleaning and separating resources. You will make it out of an oxide and any metal.

Then you will need copper, cadmium, emerald or indium. Place one of these components in the device and make sure it is plugged in. The process of creating Chromatic Metal takes from several to several dozen minutes.
