Shrines are very important

Shrines play a crucial role in NiOh. They can be used in several ways. When there are enemies near a shrine or a battle is taking place, the shrine is blocked and cannot be used. One should remember that every time you use a shrine, opponents will respawn in the area. You can often find shortcuts near the shrines and you can unlock them as you progress with the gameplay.

Use shrines to level up your character

First of all, you can use shrines to level up your hero. You will require amrita points that will allow you to upgrade certain attributes: Body, Heart, Stamina, Strength, Skills, Dexterity, Magic and Spirit. To reach next levels you will need more and more Amrita points. In Shrines, you can also adjust your Ninja and Onmyo Magic Skills.

Offerings are the next available option. You will come across a lot of items that you can gather. You can use shrines to exchange items that you don't need for Amrita. If that item is special, you will have to confirm that you really want to sacrifice it.

The treasure option allows you to take items from the downloadable content. If we have all the available items, we will be notified about it. You may also use shrines to summon another player to assist you. In order to do that, you need to have the Ochoko cup and sacrifice it. Once used, the Ochoko remains active summoning until a player is brought into the game. If you die while Ochoko is being offered, the offering stops but it is not used up.

The Oracle blessing will increase the amount of Amrita you gather, Swordsman Blessing will increase weapon drop rate, Warrior Blessing will increase armor drop rate, Healer Blessing will improve elixir drop rate and Hunter Blessing will improve drop rate of materials.
