Looking for resources in New World can be troublesome, especially due to their sheer numbers crafting requires. Therefore you should know how to track resources. On this page of the guide, you'll learn what to do to make resource icons appear on your compass (e.g. iron).

How to track resources?

Tracking resources, that is, displaying their icons on the compass, is unlocked by developing a specific Trade Skill - New world: Resources - how to track? - FAQ - New World Guide

Tracking resources, that is, displaying their icons on the compass, is unlocked by developing a specific Trade Skill. For example, if you upgrade your Harvestign skill to level 25, herb icons will start appearing on the compass. You can check which level of the skill rewards you with resource tracking in the Trade Skills tab.

To level up the Trade Skill, you need to actively use it. If you want herb icons to appear on your compass - collect all herbs and plants you see. If you want the compass to point you towards iron ores, use your pickaxe to mine rocks and extract all ores you encounter.
