If you're low on health, back away from the enemy and heal yourself with, for instance, potions.
  1. Healing. You can heal yourself with potions. If you acquire honey during your journey, you can combine it with a potion to create a mega potion, a stronger variant.
  2. Chests with equipment. Right after the hunt begins, you can approach large chests in which you will find various free items. Those are usually medications and other items serving as supplies.
  3. Weapon sharpness. Melee weapons are blunted when attacking or blocking hits. When the sharpness of the weapon drops, your attacks may become ineffective. To sharpen your weapon, you must use whetstones.
Dodging, running and jumping use stamina. When it drops to zero, your character will become exhausted and vulnerable to attacks. - General tips | Beginners Guide to Monster Hunter World - Tips for start - Monster Hunter World Game Guide
Dodging, running and jumping use stamina. When it drops to zero, your character will become exhausted and vulnerable to attacks.
  1. Stamina. Almost every action associated with movement - jumps, rolls, etc. - use up stamina. When it drops to zero, your character will be exhausted and vulnerable to enemy attacks. Note that the maximum stamina bar decreases with time - to counteract it you must consume meals.
  2. Hunting equipment. Before embarking on a hunt you should think about your equipment. Choose the best weapon / armor, gadgets for Palico and so on. Unlike in the previous installments of the franchise, you can select your equipment in the encampment in which you begin the hunt.
  3. Elements. There are 5 elements in the game: fire, thunder, water, ice and dragon. Each monster is more vulnerable / resistant to a specific element.
When sneaking, you can come very close to the enemy and, for instance, perform a sneak attack. - General tips | Beginners Guide to Monster Hunter World - Tips for start - Monster Hunter World Game Guide
When sneaking, you can come very close to the enemy and, for instance, perform a sneak attack.
  1. Sneaking. Press the button responsible for dodge when the character is stationary and you will start sneaking. Thanks to this, you can safely approach the enemy. Additionally, if you crouch in the bushes, you will be able to hide from monsters and, for example, stop a pursuit.
  2. Mounting monsters. Even though there's no jump mechanic in the game, if you make an aerial combo or jump from a ledge (dodging towards the monster and performing an attack), your character will jump on the beast's back. Afterwards, you need to try to prevent the monster from throwing you off, attacking it at the same time, which, potentially, can lead to the monster being knocked down.
  3. The Canteen. You can use this place to order food, allowing you to increase the health, stamina or other attributes of the character for a while. Eating and buffing characters before the hunt is the key to success. The effect of the consumed meal will be canceled if: you complete the hunt, leave the mission, you won't be able to complete the hunt before the time limit or if your character will be knocked down (faint).
During the training you will be able to easily adopt various attack sequences. - General tips | Beginners Guide to Monster Hunter World - Tips for start - Monster Hunter World Game Guide
During the training you will be able to easily adopt various attack sequences.
  1. Using weapons. Each weapon in the game has its pros and cons, but they have one thing in common - none of them is quick to master. It's worth spending some time practicing in the special training mode. There you can train dodges and sequences of attacks. You won't have enough time to practice in the heat of the battle and monsters can be ruthless.
  2. Fast Travel. You can use the Fast Travel mechanic at any moment to travel back to the camp. However, you can't use it while in battle or when the monster has been alarmed by your presence.
  3. Knockdown. When your health drops to zero and you will be defeated in combat, the character will be knocked down (faint). Afterwards, you will be transported to the camp where you can regain your strength. When choosing the mission you will find information about the number of times the character can be knocked down - if you exceed this number, the mission will fail. For each time your character faints, the reward for the hunt will become smaller.
