This section of the Medieval Dynasty guide has information on building objects in the game. We describe how to build your house and other buildings on the farm. We describe the resources and objects necessary for this and how to obtain them.
Building in Medieval Dynasty is like crafting on a larger scale, so the basic elements are in the same selection menu, under the Q key. Not all buildings are available right away. Some of them need the right amount of points for a particular technology.
Required tools and resources
In the beginning, to build, you will need a wooden hammer and a lot of materials. Here's how to get them:
If you don't have it in your inventory yet, you can create a Wooden Hammer immediately by pressing the Q key, selecting crafting, and then the name of the tool. You will need a log and 10 sticks to craft it.
Open the equipment menu and press the F key to place the wooden hammer in one of the quick items slots.
What about an axe? Find out how to make it on a separate page of our guide.
You need a stone axe to collect logs – you will create it at the beginning of the game. Put it into one of the quick slots and press the left mouse button on any tree. After several strikes, the tree will fall to the ground.
Then stand over the tree to continue chopping it into logs. The character should keep doing a powerful overhead swing, however, any hits to the stump count. After a few swings, the tree will break down into several logs (depending on the type). Pick them up and remember that you probably won't lift more than six or seven logs at the same time. Every time you break a tree into logs, you will automatically collect some sticks.
Sticks and rocks
Sticks and branches lie almost everywhere – you just need to collect them. The same is true of the rocks, but these are a little bit more hidden. Rocks are useful for building the best walls with highest durability and insulation against low temperatures.
Straws are formed from the twigs of an under-grown reed, meaning you will find it above water. This material will be useful in finishing the roof of your house. Be careful not to collect mature cane sticks, just the ones that resemble tall grass.
More on the Straw – how to get it? page.
Get the required number of logs in the inventory to build the frame of the structure. The first house requires 6 logs. Press the Q key and select the home icon.
Select the building. At first you will have access to just a simple little house.
When moving, choose the right place for a house. You can rotate the building with the Dot and Comma keys. The green color means that the building can be placed here by clicking the left mouse button. If the terrain is too sloping or too close to another village, the color will be red.
Once the location has been chosen, you will have to finish the base of your construction. You will have to put up 10 walls and 4 parts of the roof. This requires collecting more logs and sticks. Prepare yourself – you will have to visit the nearby forest many times to get the resources.
Take out the wooden hammer. The walls that have to be finished are highlighted in white.
Go to that wall and bring the cursor closer to it. A list of required resources and the type of finish will appear. By pressing the E button, you can open the radial menu with walls.
It may be the simplest wattle wall, wooden wall, or stone wall. They differ in durability and isolation from cold temperatures. You can also choose a plain wall – without or with a window, or door.
After choosing the type of finish, click on it with the hammer and hold the button until the hammer starts hitting the wall, turning it green.
The finished wall will change its appearance.
Repeat this operation for all white elements of the house – walls and roof. You can also choose the type of the rooftop. Remember that you will need a lot of logs, sticks and straw to complete a building. Prepare for multiple trips to the forest to replenish your stock.
The finished house will have a bed inside, a hearth for cooking, and a chest for storing equipment.
