Last update: 30 October 2022

On this page of our game guide to Mass Effect 3 we provide information on potential unfinished romances while playing the male variant of Shepard. We explain what romances from the previous installments of the series are no longer continued and what are the reasons for this state of affairs.

Unfinished or interrupted romance - why?

In Mass Effect 3 you will come across a few characters with whom you could romance in the second part of the series, but despite this fact it is no longer possible to continue the relationship. This is mainly due to their marginal role in the events of the new campaign. In the case of male variant of Shepard, we're talking about the two characters mentioned in the following paragraphs.

Samara

Samara can be encountered meets in the course of completing a side task commissioned by Liara, which is connected with the investigation of the Ardat-Yakshi monastery (of course, only if she is still alive).

Once the bomb is detonated, the game will offer you the opportunity to stop Samara from committing a crime. Unfortunately, this does not entail the possibility of establishing closer relation with her, but you can meet her later in the game on The Citadel and talk to her while staying at a campsite in London in the game's finale (not personally, but by using the communication terminal).

Morinth

You won't encounter Morinth during the main story campaign. You can only receive a text message from her.

If she did not die in the second part of the series, then she automatically appears in the final battle as an enemy. This takes place just after the destruction of the Hades cannon (screenshot above), and Morinth herself replaces the "ordinary" banshee in the role of the enemy.
