Chapter 3 - Enemy of the State - p. 1 Mafia II Guide

ANSWERING THE PHONE AND LEAVING THE APARTMENT:

The phone can be found near the entrance to Joe's apartment #1. During the conversation you'll find out that Vito's mom wants him to contact Mr. Pappalardo in the docks for a job opportunity. You'll have to put something on before leaving the apartment, so turn around and interact with a closet #2. You can take Vito's jacket again, assuming of course you didn't buy anything from a clothes store in the previous chapter of the game.

GOING TO THE DOCKS TO TALK TO MR. PAPPALARDO:

Exit the building using the same door as in the previous mission when you were following Joe. Go to your garage #1 and choose the vehicle from the previous chapter. Naturally you can also drive something different by stealing a parked car or hijacking one of the vehicles passing by the building where Joe lives. The docks are in the southern area of the city and you should remember about speed limits while driving there. The game will probably want you to use the western freeway #2 and it's a good idea, because you'll be allowed to maintain higher speeds there.

Drive through the main gate leading to the docks #1. It shouldn't be a problem to locate it as long as you follow the route seen on your radar. Park somewhere near your destination, exit the car and use the stairs #2 to reach Derek Pappalardo's office. Opening the door to the office will trigger a new cut-scene.

DOING SOME WORK FOR STEVE:

Exit Derek's office and spend some time looking around to find a new Playboy magazine lying on the floor #1. Use the stairs to get to the ground level and approach Steve to listen to the job description #2.

Your task will be to load the truck with crates. Start off by approaching one of the crates (doesn't matter which one) #1. Pick up the crate by pressing the E key, turn around and carry it to the back of the truck #2. Press the action key again to put it down (once again - doesn't matter where).

Notice that Vito will have enough after loading one crate and he'll inform you that this job sucks #1. You can try leaving the warehouse right away #2 or you can continue loading other crates. If you've chosen the latter Vito will have enough after loading five crates and he won't pick up the sixth one. You will be stopped by Steve while trying to leave this area. Follow him to Mr. Pappalardo's office to trigger a longer cut-scene.

EXTORTING MONEY FROM THE DOCKERS:

Return to the warehouse area. The first person you'll need to extort the money from can be found near the stairs #1. The docker won't cooperate, so you'll have to hurt him a bit by defeating him in melee combat #2. Thankfully he's a weak opponent, so it should be easy to win (remember about throwing fast punches and using a brutal finisher).

Two other dockers are working on a boat #1 #2 near the truck where you were loading crates and they won't give you any trouble. Wait for a new cut-scene.

The last docker will want to fight you and you should know that defeating him will be more difficult #1. Notice that when he's stunned you'll probably have to hit him three times to perform a finishing move #2. Once he's defeated you may return to the balconies and enter Derek's office again to give him the money. He'll reward you for the job with 100 dollars and he'll also inform you that Joe wants to meet you in Freddy's bar.

MEETING WITH JOE IN THE BAR:

Exit Derek's office and enter a vehicle (the one you've used to get to the docks or another one found nearby). Freddy's bar is located near Joe's apartment in Little Italy. Park the vehicle near the bar #1 and open the main door. Once you're inside the bar proceed towards the stairs #2. You'll meet Henry Tomasino during the next cut-scene and he'll fill you in on a plan to steal gas tickets from an office of price administration. The first step of the plan will be to meet with one of the women working there.
