In Lost Ark, you can ride a Mount and have a Pet as your companion. This page explains whether you have to purchase them, as well as when and after which tasks you will unlock them.

You can get both a pet and a mount by completing the main quests in Lost Ark. This is a key argument as to why you should initially focus on completing the main quests in the game.

To get a Pet, you must complete the main story quest called Demons in Prideholme. You will start the next quest - Learning About Pets - at the inn. To get the Mount, you need to work a little longer and complete the mission: Town Where Light Lingers.

For a fee, you can train your pets to give you a different passive bonus.

"Use" your pets by right-clicking their icons in the inventory, which will assign them to the correct windows. Now, by opening the Ctrl V panel for Mounts and Ctrl P for Pets, you can move their icons to the Quick Access panel so you can summon them with a button (Pets only need to be summoned once).

While mounts are used for travelling the world faster (thet can't be used in buildings/dungeons), pets have an additional function:

1. They collect items dropped by defeated enemies for you,
2. They add a passive bonus (by default that's 5% to Health and 10% to Critical Hits),
3. They expand your inventory (you will see a tab with a dog head icon in the inventory window). Every item that you don't have room for in your inventory will be moved to the "second inventory",
4. Animals can be crew members on expedition ships, thus raising the adaptation profile.
