While in the shop, first pick the item from the merchant, from your inventory (in return, you receive Incomplete Hypnotic Powder - a potion that you are going to use later). Then, select the pumpkin, which you have picked in the garden, and then the gold coin. As a result, you obtain a Pumpkin Lantern.
