This page of the Horizon Forbidden West guide provides the location of the Tallnecks available in The Stillsands. This is a special activity that reveals a sizable portion of the map. However, it is worth remembering that it only shows the terrain and does not unlock individual activities. This means they'll fill your map with question marks you'll have to discover on your own.

Location
You'll find the Tallneck of The Stillsands in the eastern part of the region, going south from the base. There is no campfire in the immediate area, but Camp Nowhere is not that far from this spot so once you discover the place, you can travel there freely.
Examining the surroundings
When you get there, you will see some killed animals. Approach the largest one so Aloy can examine the remains. This will guide her to an important thought, which will enable you to continue.
After examining the machine parts, head to the campfire. There are human remains lying there that Aloy needs to examine. After that, look around the surroundings and examine two more items glowing purple.
This will get you to the first ballista. It is recommended to examine the Tallneck in the Focus mode now or before this moment. This way, its weak points will become visible to you.
Ballistas
It's time to take the first shot. Grab a ballista and shoot it at the machine's abdomen. This way, it will get blocked with a rope. It is worth noting that the Tallneck will continue to roam freely.
Head to the second ballista. There will be several machines walking around it. Eliminate them first so they don't distract you nor interrupt your shot.
Again, target the glowing points on the Tallneck's body. The Tallneck will get blocked with another rope, but it will still be able to walk around.
The last ballista is located on a wooden platform. While walking towards it, you will come across several enemies, which you need to get rid of so that they don't interfere with your further actions.
When you hit the machine with the third rope, it will eventually fall to the ground and you will be able to climb on it.
Climbing the Tallneck
You will get on the knocked down Giraffe without any problem. All you have to do is do a little run-up and jump on top of the animal. It should not rise on its own, but let's not waste time.
As soon as you jump on top of the Tallneck, it will regain consciousness and rise again. However, this shouldn't prevent you from downloading the locations of objects in the area and then jumping off.
Once you're at the top, finish the activity. A large area around the Tallneck will be revealed to you. However, note that you have to discover these question marks and check what they represent yourself.
