Basic information and finding Chargers
Chargers are some of the more common machines encountered in the game. A unique feature distinguishing them from other enemies are their curved horns.
Chargers are one of the machines which can be Overridden, meaning htey can be mounted for faster traversal through the game world or in order to help in combat against other machines or humans. Dominating the Charger is also an optional objective in The Embassy main quest - its full walkthrough can be found in our guide.
Chargers can be encountered at random or by visiting their sites. One of their sites can be found in the first area visited after the prologue, to the north-west of Chainscrape (pictured above). You'll stumble into other sites while exploring the world map.
How to override a Charger?
After reaching a Charger site or noticing them during exploration you must sneak up to one of them. Watch out for the position of other Chargers so they don't spot you while you're sneaking up on them. If the chargers enter the yellow alert state you can hide in tall grass and wait for them to abort their search.
Get close enough to the Charger and hold Triangle when prompted to dominate it. Do not let go of the button until the entire process is complete.
From now on, the Charger will be assigned to Aloy. You can ride it and summon it with the Mount Call gadget.
