Professor Garlick's Assignment 1 is a mandatory assignment in Hogwarts Legacy. The quest's relation to the main plot
Completing this assignment is mandatory. You need to complete them in 100% to proceed to The High Keep main quest. The mentioned main quest requires the spell Wingardium Leviosa and Professor Garlick will teach you it for completing her assignment.

- Wingardium Leviosa spell unlocked - this is an important spell for completing puzzles, because you can use magic to freely move objects (e.g. chests).
Acquire and use a Venomous Tentacula
You can get this tool in two ways. An easier method is to buy a ready-made Venomous Tentacula. To do this, visit the Dogweed and Deathcap shop - it's on the northern edge of Hogsmeade.
The Venomous Tentacula costs 600 gold.
A more difficult and time-consuming method is to make Venomous Tentacula yourself. This is a good solution if you also want to use it in the future. In the same shop you can buy a Venomous Tentacula Seed - it costs 1,050 gold.
This is not the only requirement, because you also need a Potting Table with a Large Pot. By default, you only have a table with a small pot.
Visit the Tomes and Scrolls shop in Hogsmeade. Buy any table that meets the requirements - it should cost 1,000 gold.
Return to the Room of Requirement. Start by using Conjuring spell to create a large pot herb table - select the Herbology menu and go to the third tab (third pot icon from the top). It takes 10 Moonstones to conjure a table.
Place the Venomous Tentacula seed in the large pot. You have to wait 15 minutes for it to fully grow. Then you can take the object.
After getting 1 Venomous Tentacula, open the tool wheel (L1/LB). Select the obtained tool and activate it (press L1/LB).
Acquire and use a Mandrake on multiple enemies simultaneously
You can get this tool in two ways. An easier method is to buy ready-made Mandrake. Visit the Dogweed and Deathcap shop.
Mandrake costs 500 gold.
A more difficult and time-consuming method is to make Mandrake yourself. This is a good solution if you also want to use it in the future. In the same shop you can buy a Mandrake Seed - it costs 800 gold.
Return to the Room of Requirement and use the Potting Table with a Small Pot.
Place the Mandrake seed in a small pot. You have to wait 10 minutes for it to fully grow. Then you can take the object.
After obtaining 1 Mandrake, open the tool wheel (L1/LB). Select the tool, but don't activate the Mandrake yet.
Save your game so you don't accidentally waste Mandrake. Visit any location with a large number of enemies, e.g. one of the monsters lairs on the world map (picture 1 shows an example of a spider lair west of Hogsmeade).
Wait for several monsters to approach you and use Mandrake (press L1/LB). You should pass the challenge, because the tool will affect several enemies with its effect.
Attend Herbology Class during the day
Return to the Herbology class. The whole lesson is a cut-scene - talk to Professor Garlick after it's over.
You will learn the spell Wingardium Leviosa and you can test it right away on the dummy (after placing the spell in the active slot). If you play on a controller, use the D-pad to move the object.
