Professor Sharp's Assignment 1 is one of the assignments you have to complete in Hogwarts Legacy to advance in the main story. The walkthrough tells you how to obtain Focus, Edurus and Maxima potions and how to use them properly, as well as how to learn the Depulso spell.

The quest's relation to the main plot
Completing this assignment is mandatory. You need to complete it in 100% to be able to proceed to The Helm of Urtkot main quest. The reason is that the aforementioned main quest requires the Depulso spell, which is a reward for completing Professor Sharp's assignment.

Acquire and use a Focus Potion
You can obtain the necessary potion in 2 ways. An easier method is to simply buy a Focus potion. Travel to Hogsmeade and visit J. Pippin's Potions shop. You can buy a ready-made bottle of potion for 500 gold.
A more difficult and time-consuming method is to brew the potion yourself. This is a good solution if you also want to brew it in the future. In the same shop, buy a Focus Potion Recipe for 1,200 gold.
Return to the Room of Requirement with the recipe and use the Potions Station.
The ingredients needed to create a potion can be found in the game world as loot or bought in the store. Dugbog Tongue is more problematic - it is dropped by Dugbogs, i.e. oversized toads (one of the main types of monsters).
The potion brewing process takes 1 minute.
After getting 1 bottle of potion, open the tool wheel (L1/LB). Select Focus Potion from it and drink it (press L1/LB).
Acquire Maxima and Edurus Potions, and use them simultaneously
Both potions can be obtained in 2 ways. The easier way is to buy 2 ready-made potions. Travel to Hogsmeade and visit J. Pippin's Potions shop. Each of the potions costs 300 gold, so you need 600 gold to get both.
The more difficult and time-consuming method is to produce the potions yourself. This is a good solution if you also want to brew them in the future.
You could pick up the recipe for the Edurus potion for free during the Welcome to Hogsmeade main quest. Maxima Potion Recipe costs 500 gold in the shop.
Return to the Room of Requirement with the recipes and use the Potions Station.
You can find the ingredients needed to create potions in the game world as loot or buy them in the store. You can have more problems with:
- Mongrel Fur - you have to kill the wolves found in the game world and loot their remains;
- Spider Fang - you have to kill spiders and loot their corpses.
The brewing process for each potion takes 30 seconds.
Save the game so you don't waste the 2 potions by accident. Open the tool wheel (L1/LB). Select Edurus potion from it and drink it, open the menu again, select Maxima potion and drink it. The effects of drinking both potions will be active at the same time and you will complete the assignment.
Attend Potions Class during the day
Return to the Potions Class. The whole lesson is a cut-scene. After i, talk to Professor Sharp.
You will learn the Depulso spell and can test it right away on the dummy (after placing the spell in an active slot).
