Unlocking the quest
Professor Hecat's second assignment becomes available after the Tomes and Scrolls main quest.
This quest is mandatory, as you need Expelliarmus to begin the Jackdaw's Rest main quest.

- unlocking the Expelliarmus spell - you can use it to disarm enemies by ripping their weapons from their hands (later you can also learn how to throw the weapons back at them).
Successfully avoid enemy attacks by dodge rolling
There are two combat challenges you must complete. You can handle them at your own pace (in different combats, even) and in any order.
You need to successfully evade 10 attacks, that is, press the dodge button (Circle/B) on the controller right before your character takes damage. Dodge roll the moment a circle appears above your character's head, warning of an incoming enemy attack.
Cast Incendio on enemies
Make sure you have Incendio prepared. You must use it on any opponent - other students encountered during Crossed Wands will do as well. You must successfully ignite enemies five times.
Attend Defense Against the Dark Arts Class during the day
Move to Hogwarts and reach the classroom. You can view the map and wait if necessary (Wait - press the right analog stick). The class itself takes place within a cutscene.
Meet Professor Hecat afterwards. You'll learn how to cast Expelliarmus, thus completing the quest. You can test it out on a dummy if you'd like to (place the spell in your quick select bar).
