Although Ballistae and Scorpions are powerful range units, they are very vulnerable to enemy strikes.
  1. These are your strongest range units. Each unit consists of only one "man", and thus health points do not affect their attack power. On the other hand, these are very fragile units, which won't survive for too long against enemy attacks. Both Ballista and Scorpion have very good attack range and can deal significant damage. They are the best units to deal damage and eliminate dangerous enemies.
  2. Although a Ballista can fire further (2-8 fields), it has a slightly weaker attack than a Scorpion (70 damage). However, it cannot attack adjacent fields. A Scorpion can deal more damage (90 damage), but has a shorter attack range (max 6 fields). Similar to an Archer, it can attack adjacent units. Siege engines have some drawbacks: they cannot move and attack in the same turn, they are very slow (they can move 3 fields on roads and only 1 field on any other terrain) and they don't have any armor. Thus, you need to protect them and keep away from enemy units, especially mobile units (Cavalry, Wolves, Mages).
