In Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery you can have your own pet. You can choose from among an owl, a cat, a toad, and a rat. In contrast to the source material in the books, the game, Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, a student can have one pet per every species available. This means that you can have a cat, a toad, and an owl in one room.
Bonuses
The pets do not have any real impact on the gameplay in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery. Every few hours a single pet can replenish your energy points (2 points per pet). Keeping pets doesn't give any other perks or points. Only when purchasing a pet, you receive a particular number of special points.

- Rat - 665 empathy points,
- Cat - 1110 courage points,
- Toad - 220 wisdom points.
Where can I buy a pet?
You can buy a pet in East Towers. At the start of the area, there's a cat. After you click on it, you can select a pet you want to buy.
You can also buy a pet in the dormitory. The dormitory is in the common room - its particular location depends on the house you have chosen. There, you find 4 slots for pets. Regardless of where you click, a pet shop menu appears.
How much does a pet cost?
You can buy a cat for 215 gems. It comes in four different colors.
A rat can be purchased for 160 gems. It comes in three different colors, however, first you have to buy the white one with red eyes.
A toad is also 160 gems and is available in three distinct colors. Buying a toad grants you 220 wisdom points.
An owl is the most expensive pet available in the game. You have to spend 320 gems in order to acquire it. It comes in three different colors to choose from.
