On this page of the guide to Halo Infinite, you will learn if you need to know the Halo series to play Infinite. This will be useful to players who are starting their adventure with the Halo saga or those returning to the series after a long break.
Halo Infinite is not another numbered installment of the series, but that does not mean that it is a reboot or another completely fresh production. The plot of Halo Infinite is a continuation of the events of Halo 5: Guardians released in 2015. It depicts the events taking place after the war with the Guardians.
The games from the Halo series have always been strongly connected through the story and can be difficult to understand for people who have never played them before. The same happens here. If you want to know the plot and the universe of the series well, you should play all the previous FPS games We're talking about:
- Halo: The Master Chief Collection - it's a collection consisting of Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 2 Anniversary, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST and Halo 4.
- Halo 5: Guardians - this is the minimum if you plan to skip the earlier games.
The Master Chief Collection is available on Xbox One and Xbox Series consoles, as well as PC. Unfortunately, Halo 5is available only on Xbox consoles.
If you want to know even more about the Halo universe, you may check out the RTS games - Halo Wars and Halo Wars 2.
