As the game progresses, you will gain access to iron and be able to process it. The following page of the guide to Green Hell contains blueprints for various molds.
To make a cast, you need to melt the extracted ore in a furnace and then place it in a mud mold with the appropriate object to shape the tool. The resulting components can then be used to create more durable items.
