The car choice matters in Gran Turismo Sport Gran Turismo Sport Guide, Tips

Last update: 11 July 2018

In multiplayer races, the performance of individual Gr. 3, Gr. 4 or Gr. 1 class cars are equalized and you can't change anything in their settings (setup). It does not mean, that each of them will drive identically, and the result depends only on our skills. If you choose a car based only on the sympathy to a manufacturer, you can often significantly reduce the chance of a good result. Be reasonable - if the car is trouble, you get over-steering, unwillingly runs into slides - you will not be able to drive it very fast. Then you have to choose the one that offers the most control.

The rank of the driver from the first place shows that he could also win in an Audi, but all the rest opted for one car - the Porsche 911 - which often has an advantage on a particular track. - The car choice matters in Gran Turismo Sport - Races - Practical advice - Gran Turismo Sport Game Guide
The rank of the driver from the first place shows that he could also win in an Audi, but all the rest opted for one car - the Porsche 911 - which often has an advantage on a particular track.

In each group there are cars that perform better on the specific tracks than others, for example because of a different gear ratio. Some are quick in curves, but on the straights clearly worse than others. For example, on the long straights on the Monza track, the strong Mustang or Aston Martin will be much better than the agile VW Beetle. At low ranks and among weak drivers, it is not that important, because times are poor in general. At the higher level, however, you can see that there is only one leading model. Take a look at the Top 10 qualifications ranking to see which car dominates in a particular race. The game developer changes the balance of individual cars periodically so their popularity may change.
