God of War: Magni and Modi - boss, how to beat? God of War Guide and Walkthrough

On this page of the God of War (2018) game guide you will find the description of the duel with the Magni and Modi bosses during the Magic Chisel quest. This walkthrough explains, among other things, if both bosses need to be attacked at the same time and what unique abilities and attacks Magni and Modi have at their disposal.

Magni and Modi are the sons of Thor. Kratos meets them in the final phase of the Magic Chisel's main quest, specifically shortly before acquiring the titular artifact.

This clash is unique because you have to fight two bosses simultaneously. Magni and Modi have separate health bars visible at the bottom of the screen.

The brothers differ in some of their attacks. Magni has a big sword with which he makes strong and slow attacks. It is quite easy to dodge and counter them.

Modi has a shield and a one-handed axe - he is the opposite of his brother. He's an agile boss, though he inflicts lower amount of damage with a successful strike.

It's best to focus on attacking one of the brothers in order to get to the point of depriving him of enough health points faster. Our recommendation is to attack Magni first - he has offensive stance and charges often, making him vulnerable to counterattacks.

After Magni and Modi lose a quarter of their health bar, phase 1 of the duel will end. There will be fog all around, obscuring the visibility. The key to survive is to turn your character towards the attack marker to try and parry the incoming blow.

Surviving the stage of defending yourself in the fog will allow you to advance to the second phase of the battle. It looks the same as before - it's best to defeat one of the brothers and only then start attacking the other.

After this phase, you once again have to block the incoming strikes of enemies.

Finally, it's time for round three.

In the new battle phase you have to be especially careful about the bosses' area of effect attacks, which deal a lot of damage. It is best to try to knock down both brothers at the same time, as they can revive each other.

By defeating the sons of Thor, Kratos will be able to approach the crystal and take the chisel fragment - one of the mandatory actions required to advance in the main storyline.
