This page of the God of War game guide contains the description of the duel with the great dragon encountered during the exploration of the Inside the Mountain stage. This guide explains how to act when the dragon appears and how to defeat the boss after the main confrontation.
The appearance of a dragon
The confrontation with the dragon takes place during the exploration of Inside the Mountain stage as part of the main storyline. Kratos and Atreus explore this location shortly after leaving Alfheim.
The dragon will appear after using the elevator. You can immediately start attacking the boss - you have to hit the dragon's claws and at the same time watch out for the boss's maw attacks.
Kratos will have to use the elevator in order to attack the dragon with it.
The red crystal will fall to the ground, cause a reaction and blow up the boulders. You have to use this to safely move on. From now on it is possible to use crystals for detonation - you can pick up a crystal and throw it at the electrified passage.
Kratos must use the narrow passage and repeat the crystal trick in the next location.
During further exploration, the dragon will appear again. This time you will engage into a fully-fledged confrontation with the boss.
The main part of the boss fight
The boss fight should be started by setting off towards the dragon and jumping on its back. After Kratos hits the monster's maw you can attack the boss with melee weapon.
The dragon is a fairly easy enemy, as it is slow and its attacks are easy to dodge. You must start each attack sequence by picking up a crystal and throwing it at the beast's maw as it breathes with lightning.
When the enemy gets stunned, you can freely attack him and reduce some of its health.
After being stunned, the boss will stand on its claws and start creating shockwaves - you need to neutralize them with the help of a shield. You can approach the beast and attack its claws, while avoiding the blows.
When the dragon starts to breathe lightning, you need to grab the crystal again and hurl it into the monster's maw.
The entire fight consists of the phases and dragon attacks described above. In the final part of the duel there will be an opportunity to use the crane to kill the beast.
