One of the more difficult additional activities in God of War Ragnarok are the Crucible challenges in Muspelheim. At the beginning they will be unavailable though. This guide will explain where the 2 Muspelheim Seed Halves (Muspelheim Seed Half) are hidden and how to reach them, as well as how to visit the Crucible for the first time.
On this page of the guide you will see minor spoilers, referring to acquiring Kratos' third main weapon and the circumstances of visiting Muspelheim in the main storyline. However, we are not revealing any major plot facts.

Muspelheim and blocked access to it
Muspelheim is one of nine lands available in God of War Ragnarok. When Mystic Gateway used to travel between lands is unlocked, Muspelheim will remain unavailable as a destination.
You will reach Muspelheim at a certain point while progressing through the main storyline. More specifically, it will happen during the Into the Fire main quest, in which you will play as Atreus. The only purpose of visiting Muspelheim will be to find the missing mask piece. The Muspelheim challenges will still be unavailable.
Where to find the two Muspelheim Seed Halves?
To visit the Crucible (a challenge location) you need to piece the Muspelheim Seed together. It has 2 halves, which can be found as secret items in the game world. You can pick them up them in any order. Getting one of the halves will also unlock a Favor in the journal (side quest) called The Crucible, which involves unlocking the Muspelheim challenges.
You can find the first Muspelheim Seed Half during your first visit to Svartalfheim - this will happen while completing The Quest for Tyr.
You need to reach the Modvitnir's Rig, which is also related to the In Service of Asgard Favor (side quest).
Climb to the top of the wooden structure. There is a large chest (as shown in the picture) and it contains the seed half.
You can find the second Muspelheim Seed Half no sooner than after completing the Forging Destiny, as you will need a spear to reach it.
You must visit the Dragon Beach region. At the place shown in our picture, use the spear to turn it into a rod. This will allow you to climb to the top.
Explore the eastern path that will lead you to the secret region of Alberich Hollow. As you explore the area, you will reach a chest surrounded by yellow crystals. You can also find Fire Bombs in the area. Throwing one of them will destroy the crystals. This will allow you to open the chest and pick up the other seed half.
Reaching the Crucible in Muspelheim
Return to any Mystic Gateway. Choose the Muspelheim land and The Crucible Mystic Gateway.
Once you get to the Crucible, you can start looking for the challenge starting points - an example is shown in the picture.
In the same location you will also find a shop where unique raw materials can be spent on crafting equipment.
