Basic information about merchants and shops

"Talking cats" - nekomata - serve as the game's shopkeepers. They can be found in shops and stalls. Cleansing shrines automatically marks newly revealed trading locations on your map.

You can only buy items - none of the common items from your inventory can be sold, with the exception of unique artifacts described later on.

"Regular" traders mainly offer:

1. Katashiro - lets you carry more spirits at a time.
2. Arrows - you should always have some to spare.
3. Talismans - you must unlock a talisman category by progressing through the main storyline before you can buy them.
4. Food - a last resort you should only use if your inventory is nearly empty.
5. Dog food - you can feed homeless dogs with it so they lead you to buried treasures (meika).

You can also find interactive vending machines out in the game world. You can purchase food and drinks from them.

Special nekomata - requests and unique goods

Throughout the game, aside from regular shops and stalls, you can also encounter special nekomata initially marked in green (example pictured above). Each such merchant is unique and should be visited at least once.

Special nekomata let you:

1. Accept requests to deliver unique artifacts, that is, various collectibles found in the game world. Each fulfilled request rewards you with meika. Turning in several copies of the requested artifact (for example two or four) can grant you an additional reward.
2. Buy unique items - these include KK's Investigation Notes (collectibles), magatama, photo mode emotes, new outfits or music. These items, unfortunately, are quite expensive. Their price can easily reach over 100,000 meika.
