Unlocking the quest
You can start this mission after taking over the Utagawa Shopping District Shrine - you do that in chapter 3, after completing the mission objective where you had to find and destroy blocking stones in time. A quest marker should automatically appear on the map.
The quest giver is the Protector of the Sacred Tree.
Protect the kodama
The Visitors will start appearing near the tree where you found the quest giver. The hiding kodama's health bar will appear on the screen. Don't let it fall down to 0%.
As with other battles during which you must defend someone, be aggressive and prioritize eliminating the Visitors trying to drain the kodama. If an enemy is facing away from you, you can use quick cleansing on them.
Absorb the kodama
After the battle approach the tree - the kodama will appear. Absorb it to obtain a magatama and complete this very short quest.
More kodama and other yokai markers will appear on the world map as you progress through the game. You can reach them in order to absorb them and obtain more magatama.
