Rewards for completing the quest
This story has three rewards:
- You can travel on horseback again - the main character had to move around on his own after first reaching Iki Island.
- Horse Charge - This is a new useful skill to attack enemy groups with the horse effectively.
- A large bonus to your Legend (XP).
Find a ship that brought you to Iki
Jin will be separated from his horse after the boat crashes when crossing from Tsushima to Iki - it's a part of the quest Journey Into The Past. After coming to, the main character won't find his horse anywhere. You will be able to go and search for the horse after passing through the first caves on Iki Island and unlocking fast travel around the island.
You have to investigate the marker in the northern part of the island. It's a shipwreck.
Search for signs of your horse
Next to the shipwreck, you will find a dead captain and optionally, you can choose to bury him. It'll add an extra cutscene.
The tracks are near the wreck.. Following them shouldn't be difficult, because they will appear on sand and other soft ground. You can optionally stop and examine the interactive tracks along the way. On your way, you'll also encounter a villager whom you have to talk to, and a dead Mongol run over by a horse.
Defeat the Mongols
You will reach a location where you will notice the hero's horse surrounded by Mongols - you have to defeat them, the fight should be quite easy. You can take them out either from a distance or in close combat.
Reach your horse
After the fight, run to the frightened animal. You must approach the horse and press R2 to calm it down..
From now on, you can travel on horseback around Iki Island and summon the horse.
Charge through the Mongols
Finding the horse also unlocked a new Horse Charge skill. You can test it immediately on several nearby groups of Mongols. You need to hold L1 to activate the charge. This way, you can hit the Mongols with great force (preferably the groups), killing them on the spot or dealing some serious damage.
The Charge costs some Resolve, so there are some restrictions related to this skill. Use the Charge to attack large enemy groups without dismounting the horse.
Rescue the Survivor
You need to head towards the marker on a person to be rescued. It's worth using the Charge on your way there to ram into enemy groups.
You can get rid of the last group of Mongols in any way - with Charges, in direct combat or through long-range attacks. Watch out for the bigger Mongol with the axe. When you're done fighting, approach the villager to free him and end the quest.
