In this chapter or our guide to Gears Tactics you will learn how to recruit new recruits and increase the number of soldiers in your squad. At the beginning of the game, you have only two heroes at your disposal. However, you will need more soldiers soon, especially if you want to be capable of defeating more enemies.
New recruits cannot be purchased, summoned or trained at the base. Soldiers are a very limited and valuable resource in your small army. The ways of obtaining new soldiers are extremely limited and it's very hard to recover lost troops. However, if you take care of your soldiers on a regular basis and don't let them die quickly, you will have new recruits available all the time. In this case, you won't use up all recruitment options.
After the first few missions, you'll be able to recruit new soldiers. In Chapter X, the main objective of the task is to find and keep alive all soldiers you encounter. They will permanently join your team.
Another method is to perform main or side missions that consist in rescuing soldiers that were imprisoned by the enemy. During the mission, you will be able to find the pods in which the soldiers are being held. Once they are released, they will join your ranks. After completing the task they will be available for recruitment.
After playing a few chapters, new recruits will report themselves to your base. But they will be there for a limited time period - until you decide to hire them. After a few missions, they may decide to leave your base. You can decide which soldiers you would like to recruit. You can dismiss current recruits if you need to replace someone (for example, you want more soldiers from a different class in your ranks). That's the only way to replenish the ranks in case your recruits die.
It is worth taking different soldiers on a mission because the heroes will not be able to participate in every task. Certain tasks have an imposed character limit. Therefore, it is worth to train additional soldiers to be able to fill their ranks with different classes with a high level of experience. Try to recruit soldiers of different classes to create a flexible team.
