Here are some starting tips for those who begin their adventure with Forspoken or have trouble getting around the game. Our tips concern, among others, combat, how to amass Mana, and how to reveal hidden locations on the map.
- Cuff Scan
- Turn Autoloot on
- Turn auto-switching of support spells on
- Try to fight skillfully
- Scan enemies
- Use Finishers
- Traversing the world with Magic Parkour is much easier
- Watch out for fall damage
- Collect Mana Nodes
- Use Founts of Blessing
- Use Belfries
- Visit Pilgrim's Refuges
The cuff Frey wears on her forearm has scouting capabilities which are very useful when infiltrating. You can use the power of the cuff to scan your nearest vicinity (d-pad up on PS5) and reveal enemies, treasure, and resources. Use Cuff Scan as often as possible to detect threats in advance and not to miss valuable items.
Turn Autoloot on
Autoloot can be enabled in the settings menu. Enabling it means you no longer have to manually pick up items or crafting ingredients - all you have to do is to run right over them and Frey will collect them automatically.
Turn auto-switching of support spells on
In the settings menu of Forspoken, there is an option to automatically switch support spells once the current one is spent. Support spells have long cooldowns, and in midst of an intense battle juggling defensive magic can be tricky.
Try to fight skillfully
During combat, your effectiveness and finesse will be subject to a grade. The better you do and the better combos you perform, the better your combat rating is, and higher grades are rewarded with additional XP and loot. Taking damage affects the grade negatively. Your current Battle Rating can be viewed in the upper right area of the screen.
By locking the camera on an enemy (R3 by default - PS5) and using Cuff Scan on him, you can display information regarding that enemy and learn their strengths and weaknesses. This data is immensely useful, especially if you've encountered a new enemy who you don't know yet.
If you manage to knock down and stun your opponent during combat, you can finish him off with a powerful strike (Triangle on PS5). Finishers not only deal immense damage, but also heal Frey (a portion of the damage dealt).
Traversing the world with Magic Parkour is much easier
Magic Parkour (Circle on PS5) is a special mode of movement that allows extremely fast speed with automatic jumping over obstacles and enemies and dodging incoming attacks.
Watch out for fall damage
Frey is a very agile hero - most of the time, a fall from a great height will be cushioned by her Cuff, but if the bracelet energy is depleted, the fall won't be absorbed, and the heroine will receive a certain amount of damage. Before you decide to take a great leap, make sure that Frey won't be injured during landing.
Collect Mana Nodes
In Forspoken, Mana Nodes are a source of mana i.e. a currency that can be spent on new skills or upgrades to already unlocked ones. As soon as you encounter a Mana Node (example in the screenshot above), take a detour and make sure to collect it.
Use Founts of Blessing
Founts of Blessing (example in the screenshot above) are special wells where Frey can learn a new skill free of charge. As soon as you encounter such a spot nearby, take a detour and use the Fount to get new skills.
Belfries are towers that allow scanning of the nearby areas once climbed, unlocking the locations of all secrets - additional activities, secrets, and missions. They also serve as fast travel points, so make sure to interact with every Belfry you encounter during exploration. We've marked all of them on our gamepressure.com map here: Cipalian Way: Northern Belfry.
Visit Pilgrim's Refuges
Pilgrim's Refuges are locations where you can rest, regenerate health, use crafting and collect free health potions. Moreover, refuges also serve as fast travel points, so make sure to enter every point of interest of this type you encounter on your way.
