Trading in Forge of Empires | Player interaction Forge of Empires Guide & Walkthrough

Last update: 05 March 2018

In Forge of Empires sooner or later you will need every type of good to grow - to conquer new lands or gain access to new technologies. You won't be able to produce all type of goods, as you won't have enough space in the city for every building. Instead, you can use trading to gain access to every type of good in the game.

Who can you trade with?

There are two types of trades in the game:

With NPCs, "neutral" merchants. This is an extremely inefficient method, as without any bonuses (from the Tavern), the exchange takes place at a ratio of 1:10 - for each one unit of good you will need to pay 10 unit of your own.

With other players. This method is much more profitable, because the maximum ratio can be 1:2. Additionally, you should join a guild as soon as possible - this way you will find more players willing to trade their goods.

Remember to NEVER trade with NPCs, even if you need the good. It's better to wait for a proper deal from another player, or create it on your own (more on this in the next paragraph) than to lose goods in usurious exchange.

Creating a trade deal

You can easily create new market deals. - Trading in Forge of Empires | Player interaction - Player interaction - Forge of Empires Game Guide
You can easily create new market deals.

To create a trade deal, enter the Market and go to "Create Offer" tab. Now you will need to fill in the following fields:

Your offers - the goods that you offer in return for other goods. Select the good that you want to trade with and enter the value you want to spend.

Your needs - the goods that you want to acquire through trade. Select the good that you want to trade and enter the value you want to acquire.

"Only Guild" button - allows you to create a guild-only deal. No one outside of the guild will be able to see it - useful when you want to trade with your friends and prevent the deal from being "stolen".

When you are done with filling the form, press the "Create Offer" button and the deal will appear on the market. The deals can then be checked (and canceled) in the "Your current offers" tab.

If you don't want to create a deal on your own and want to purchase the good from other players, enter the Market and go to the "Trading" tab. There are some fields to fill in here as well:

Offer - the goods that the other player offers, the ones that you will receive through the trade.

Need - goods that the other player want to acquire, those that will be taken from your stockpile.

Rate - the rate at which the goods will be traded. 1 means that you will trade fairly (10 goods for 10 goods), 0,5 and 2 means that the goods will be traded at a 1:2 or 2:1 ratios respectively.

"Show guild offers", "Show neighborhood offers" and "Show only available offers" allow you to filter out the market offers.

When you've found the offer you're interested in, click on the icon located to the right of it (with the "$" symbol) to finalize the purchase. Remember that you will need to pay 1 Forge Point for each trade - unless the offer comes from your guildmate (the offer is then free).
