Tackle

Tackling is the easiest and the most effective way of stopping an opponent - it is a great way of using physical superiority in a direct duel. However, unfair pushing or trying to kick off the ball too late may result in a faul. In order to perform a tackle press the tackle button.

Sliding Tackle

The sliding tackle is a very effective, though risky, technique of stopping an opponent's action - well performed, it lets you immediately stop the attack of your opponent and usually gives your team members a good chance of returning to their normal position, as it often causes the ball to leave the field. In order to perform it, press the sliding tackle button. Note that a badly performed sliding tackle can result is receiving a yellow or even red card for thoughtless sliding into opponents legs.

Knocking the ball out of the penalty area

A good way of getting rid of an inconvenient ball is kicking it far off from your penalty area. Half of success here is properly setting yourself against the ball and covering the opponent to whom the ball is heading - even if you fail to intercept the ball, you will disturb the opponent and make scoring a goal much harder for him. In order to clear the ball out of the penalty, press the header button. Avoid shooting the ball to the area in front of the goal - it might end with an immediate shot at the goal, which may surprise your goalkeeper. If needed, do not be afraid to knock the ball out of the field.

Adjusting running tempo to the attacker

Adjusting running tempo to the attacker is most effective when you are trying to isolate the attacking player from the side of the field while he is trying to cross the ball into your penalty area. Running along with the same tempo as he is makes it impossible for him to find a clear space for passing the ball, and even if he tries that, the ball will most likely stop at your player's feet resulting in receiving the ball or at least kicking it out of the field. In order to do that press the pace control button.
