Last update: 14 October 2021

On this page of the guide to the FUT 22 mode in FIFA 22 you'll find a detailed description of one of the best, most effective formations in FIFA 22 Ultimate Team: 4-2-2-2. We suggest what tactical settings you should choose for each game plan and what kind of instructions you should direct to specific players.

The 4-2-2-2 formation consists of 4 defenders, 2 defensive midfielders, 2 side midfielders and 2 strikers. The 4-2-2-2 is one of the most popular formations in FUT 22 due to its very high offensive power and decent defense.

Defensive game plan

You can use the defensive game plan when you have a 1 or 2 point lead and don't want to take any risks, with around 30 minutes of the match left. This plan allows you to play safely while still being able to perform effective attacks.

  2. Width: 50;
  3. Depth: 50.

The attacking game plan is useful when the match ends in about 30 minutes and the opponent scored one more goal than you. You should know that the attacking game plan tires out your players faster.

  3. Depth: 50.

Offensive play:

  1. Constructing actions: long balls;

  3. Width: 50;
  4. Players in box: 6 bars;

  1. Centre defenders: stay back while attacking, normal interceptions;

This game plan is used when the match ends in a few minutes and the opponent still has a score advantage. It's important to know that the ultra offensive game plan drains your players' stamina very quickly and makes you vulnerable to counters if you lose the ball.
