Last update: 14 October 2020

This guide to FIFA 21 contains all the information you need to start playing the game. The first chapter discusses in detail the basics of gameplay, such as moving around the field, passing, shooting, performing an offensive action, and effective defensive play. The second chapter of our guide to FIFA 21 is devoted to game modes – you can find here, e.g. a lot of useful information about Career Mode, VOLTA FOOTBALL mode, as well as tips that will make the game easier.

The next chapter lists TOP 100 players, as well as the best footballers from all major football leagues divided into different positions. The game's most popular mode, FIFA 21 Ultimate Team, also has a dedicated chapter. From it, you will learn, e.g. what are the best formations, what footballers you should have in your first team, how to make money effectively, how to manage your team, and how to achieve a full squad chemistry.

One of the most important elements that ensure success in FIFA 21 and FUT mode is the knowledge of the players who were selected for the so-called Team of the Week (TOTW) in a given week. Thanks to our guide, you'll always be up to date with the latest lineup of the available players. The final chapter of the FIFA 21 guide describes its system requirements and controls for all platforms.

FIFA 21 in a nutshell

FIFA 21 is the next installment of a series of football simulators developed by EA Sports. The title follows the previous games from the series by offering fun for both single-player and multiplayer fans. Like every year, players will have the opportunity to build their dream team from scratch in FUT 21 (FIFA Ultimate Team) mode and try their hand at ranked Division Rivals matches. Players will also have the opportunity to test themselves in street games in VOLTA FOOTBALL mode. The game continues the tradition of the series by featuring the actual players and teams.

FAQ

We answer basic questions about FIFA 21: whether it's possible to play on the street, does the new FIFA have a career mode, or what does the "Dual entitlement" offer mean. It's a small compendium of knowledge about the game's content and changes.

FIFA 21 – available platforms?

FIFA 21 will debut on PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. The ninth-generation version of the game for PS5 and Xbox Series X / Series S is planned to be released later (most likely in December 2020).

Dual entitlement offer – what is it?

After purchasing a PS5 or Xbox Series X console, you will be able to upgrade your copy of FIFA 21 from PS4 to PS5 or from Xbox One to Xbox Series X with no extra costs. Consoles without an optical drive require a digital version.

The dual entitlement offer applies only to the transition to the next-generation console of the same manufacturer.

PS4/Xbox One progress – will it be ported to PS5/Xbox Series X?

All progress in FIFA 21 Ultimate Team mode and all your unlocks, such as footballers, consumable cards, coins, FIFA Points, match balance, ranking, and progress in VOLTA FOOTBALL mode, will be the same for PS4 and PS5 as well as Xbox One and Xbox Series X.

Progress in all other modes in FIFA 21 like online seasons, cooperation seasons, Career Mode, virtual clubs, etc. is limited to the device and there will be no possibility to move it between different hardware generations.

Champions League mode – is it available?

Yes, FIFA 21 has the Champions League. This mode is divided into two phases – group matches (32 teams in 8 groups) and play-offs (a cup system).

Street mode – is it available?

Yes, FIFA 21 offers VOLTA FOOTBALL mode, which debuted in the previous game. It lets players have matches on street courts. For more information on VOLTA FOOTBALL, check out the chapter dedicated to the game modes available in FIFA 21.

Career mode – is it available?

Yes, the career mode of both manager and player is available in FIFA 21. As in the previous installment, the player will have the opportunity to play the role of their choice. One of the new features of FIFA 21's career mode will be an interactive simulation that allows you to observe the simulation and take direct control of the players alternately. For more information on the Career Mode, check out the chapter dedicated to the game modes available in FIFA 21.

PS3, Xbox 360 – can it play?

Unfortunately, the latest FIFA has not been released on older generation consoles so it cannot be played on PS3 or Xbox 360.

Web app (FUT Web App) and mobile app (FUT Companion) – are they available?

Of course, both apps will support the latest edition of FIFA so you can manage squads and clubs, browse the transfer market and shop and even do SBC (Squad Building Challenges) on your mobile or web browser. The FUT Companion app perfectly complements the mechanics of the full game and allows you to manage the most important elements of FUT 21 mode. The app is available for both Apple phones and Android smartphones. For more information on FIFA 21 mobile web apps, check out the dedicated chapter.

The FUT Companion mobile app is not available on Windows Phone.
