In Fear the Wolves you will fight with not only real players.
The wolves
The wolves can usually be found roaming maps in packs and it appears they converge on locations, where valuable items can be found. The title creatures from Fear the Wolves are quite big and have red-glowing eyes. Sometimes, they will appear when least expected - for example when you're trying to escape a weather anomaly.
Fighting the wolves
You can deal with the wolves using a pistol, and that shouldn't be very difficult. A single shot from close proximity should be a one-shot-one-kill type of situation. This generates a lot of noise, however, so you might want to consider using a gun with a silencer, if you'd rather keep your position clandestine.
Stay safe
Remember that other players don't stop existing when you're fighting the wolves. Hence, you should make sure to avoid fighting them in the open - always try to find some cover. Even if the wolves aren't particularly dangerous now, you can still be killed if your character's weakened.
